Advantages: Easy to operate, maintains temperature and pressure well

Disadvantages: None

I recently had to replace the shower in my bathroom; the old one had lasted a long time but was very reluctant to get going in the mornings so I decided it had to go.

I bought a Triton Caselona Electric shower, paying £112 from a local electrical discount store.

The shower was simple to replace over the bath using the existing fittings, the only drawback being that the on-off switch is higher on the new unit than it was on the old one, so I have to stand on tiptoe to turn it on. This is a bit of a nuisance but it was not worth having to alter the fixings just to bring it down by an inch or two.

The shower itself is surprisingly good for a basic shower. The face of the unit is streamlined and smooth and therefore easy to keep clean with just a wipe with a damp cloth. The riser bar and the fitting on the shower hose stay exactly where you put them so you are not constantly having to fiddle with it to get the water to go where you want it. The shower head is a lot bigger than the one on my previous shower which means that it delivers a lot more water and the pressure is very good. I have had no trouble with the thermostat either. It is easy to set the temperature with a simple dial and the temperature is maintained for however long you have it running. My old shower, even when new, would be constantly running from cool to warm which is, obviously, most irritating.

The height of the unit is 305mm, the width 210mm and the depth, 110mm, and it works on a 230-240v supply. It has a pressure relief safety device which complies with European standards and provides protection should there be an excessive build-up of pressure within the shower unit itself.

The on-off switch on the power unit offers a choice between stop, cold, economy and high but I don't see much difference between the efficiency of the 'economy' or 'high' so I just keep it on 'economy'. I have yet to try the 'cold'!

All in all, I am very pleased with my Triton Caselona shower and would thoroughly recommend it for those households looking for a basic but efficient shower.

Summary: Highly recommended
