Advantages: Slides away under the bed.
Disadvantages: None at all
We've recently been having a total sort out and move around of our bedrooms resulting in the purchase of some much needed storage containers which can be quite expensive. Luckily in our town we have a cheap/ bargain basement type shop and I bought some plastic containers from there for £3.99 each.
The storage containers are actually designed for under the bed and have little wheels making it easy to roll them in and out. My containers are made from
a strong clear plastic with a pink lid. They are available in other colours but pink is what the shop happened to be selling, not that I m complaining. My plastic containers are oblong in shape and measure approximately 60cm's x 40cm's x 17cm's. I'm not sure if they are available in any other sizes as this was the only size available when I bought mine. There are 4 little wheels attached to the bottom of the container making it roll freely and easy to push under a bed and pull out again.
The lid has 2 little catches each end that simply press over the side of the container and lock into place, to remove the lid you just need pull the catches up and the lid will click open, its very easy and would pose no problems for a child. The lid is ridged and although it feels quite sturdy I don't think it would take any standing on if a child was using these containers.
We bought 3 of these containers and to be honest I could really do with some more. They are great for storage, particularly under the bed. You can keep just about anything in them. They would be ideal for bed linen or towels, shoes, handbags toys, Christmas decorations just about anything.
Mark and myself are both doing home courses and in one of the containers we've got all our books and course materials, much better than in a pile in the bottom of the wardrobe. The containers are ideal for loft storage too, we've recently boarded our loft and plan on buying some more of these to keep all the useless bits and pieces that we hoard but cant bear to throw away in. The lid also has a little air vent in it that you can just slide over to open or close, this means that anything stored in the container will stay clean and dry or if you wish to keep it open anything in there will have the air circulating around it.
If you are looking for storage I would certainly recommend these containers they are available in several stores including Wilkinson's and Homebase, what you pay obviously depends on where you get them from but in my opinion they are definitely worth what we paid.
Summary: A good way to keep things neat and tidy
