When it comes to storing shoes I find these boxes to be the best way in getting them out of the way and keeping them in one place. We've got a huge double wardrobe but I don't think that shoes look quite right sat at the bottom - call me fussy, but I think it can look quite messy. I usually leave two or three pairs out that I wear daily and I keep the rest in four of my under bed storage boxes, with the other storage box being full of random bits and bobs that I never use but can't quite bring myself to throw out!

I've had my five boxes for a few months now and I purchased them when me and my boyfriend moved into our first home together. Up until then I had kept my shoes at the bottom of my wardrobe despite them looking quite untidy. I decided to buy these storage boxes as my boyfriend keeps his huge amount of trousers folded up at the bottom of the wardrobe and wasn't too keen on the wardrobe being jam packed with girly shoes! I bought them from Wilkinson's and paid £5.00 for each box, which I feel is a reasonable price and they are currently reduced to £3.50 each which is a real bargain!

The box is made of very sturdy plastic which although not particullary lightweight, it is not too heavy to lift up off of the floor and onto the bed/a table etc, meaning it can easily be transferred from one room to another. The box is white but it's not a solid colour, it's more of a white tint and I am able to see the items inside the box just by looking at it which I find handy when I am looking for something specific and it means that they don't need labelling, which saves a little time. The box comes with a plastic lid which has an air vent which can be opened or closed, which is handy - I keep it closed though to keep dust/germs/insects from getting in to the box.

I really like that the lid is coloured as it stops the box from looking too basic and boring. The lids on all of mine are pink, but colours vary. The lid has two little bits on each side which clip into place when on the box, meaning that once the air vents are closed the box is air tight, which is brilliant for storing my shoes as it keeps them dry and clean. The four small wheels on each corner of the bottom of the box are especially handy for pushing the storage boxes right under the bed and I think considering the price, these are a nice touch.

We have a kingsize bed which has no drawers or anything underneath, so we don't struggle to fit these under there, but if you do have limited room under your bed they can be stacked up, which I think is great. Each box measures 60cm wide, 18cm high and 40cm deep. I am able to fit eight pairs of flat shoes in one box, in two rows of four stacked on top of each other. Heels and boots are too tall to be stacked, so I just line them up in a row and I can fit quite a few pairs in. The box that I don't use for shoes is crammed full with scrapbooks, photo albums and numerous small soft toys - the boxes are very spacious and securely hold an impressive amount of stuff considering how cheap they are! They also free up a lot of space on my book shelf as my photo albums and scrap books are quite bulky.

The lids do get very dusty but as they're made of plastic they are easy to wipe down. I can't really fault these boxes as they're very cheap as well as sturdy and they keep my shoes and bits & bobs out of the way and securely stored. They're really handy and very versatile; they can be used to store pretty much anything! Overall, 5/5.
