Underbed Storage Box with Lid
Advantages: cheap, suitable for putting under the bed, versatile
Disadvantages: nothing really
Wilkinson and www.wilkinsonplus.com offer a range of storage solutions including baskets, boxes and cabinets.
Wilko currently offer various sized storage boxes. If you are looking for underbed storage, they offer a plastic box with a 32l capacity. Each box measures 40 x 60 x 18cm and is made of clear plastic (other colours may be available at the time of purchase). Each box is supplied with a lid. Wilko claim that these storage boxes are perfect for keeping your stored items clean and free from dust.
The 32l box retails at £5.00 but is currently on offer at just £3.50. It is available instore and online.
I have a lot of things which I like to keep but aren't needed day to day. In our home, we have lots of storage boxes for various purposes including a large, 4 drawer cabinet for my beauty stuff. Shortly before we moved into our current home 2 yrs ago, I made a purchase of some Wilko storage boxes. These helped greatly during our move and I was more content that my precious items were protected in a plastic box than potentially damaged in a cardboard box.
£3.50 is a good price for these and I do feel like I should go out and buy a few more as they have came in very handy indeed. At the time of purchase, Wilko had a purple box available so we currently own two purple and two clear boxes. These boxes are a good size and the plastic is fairly durable though I wouldn't advise overloading the boxes. The lids have a rib effect across the top and do fit neatly on top of the box providing the box isn't overfilled. They stack well.
These boxes are easy to carry even when full of items. There are indented edges for easy gripping so transporting them is very easy. I have used our boxes for transporting items to a carboot sale. Wilko promote these as being for underbed storage. Our old bed had space underneath and I can confirm that these slotted under perfectly and remained out of sight. Our current bed is a divan so we do not have that option at the moment. The boxes are basic in appearance.
These boxes are very versatile. Whilst not the deepest, they do accommodate a lot of items. One clear box is currently used to store things which I cannot part with such as birthday mugs, certificates, baby books etc. This box is stored in our cupboard which does get very dusty. I can confirm my treasures have been kept clean and neat inside the box. Another box is used for storing my sons cars and buses in the toy room and he can fit quite a lot in the box. We jazzed up the box by adding some character stickers to it so my son knows it is his box. Good for little toys but we have a much bigger box for his bigger toys.
We also use one of these storage boxes for storing dish towels in and another is used for holding items to be sold on eBay. These boxes would be ideal for storing shoes. CDs and even computer games. We previously reserved a box for some of my sons old baby clothes before we gave them away - the uses are endless. I much prefer these boxes to the storage bags available even if they do take up a little more room.
These storage boxes have served us well. There are one or two scratch marks on the plastic (moreso the toy box) but nothing major - they are still in really good condition and I am certain we will get many more years use from them. I cannot really fault them. These boxes represent excellent value for money and make for excellent storage for under the bed, in cupboard and wardrobes.
Thanks for reading :)
Summary: we love them!
