Vancouver 2 Door 3 Drawer Mirrored Wardrobe
Advantages: Plenty of room inside
Disadvantages: The draws are a little shallow
When me and my Husband first moved into our house a few years ago, we purchased new furniture for our room but decided to use my old bedroom furniture for what is now Jayden's bedroom although at the time it was just a spare room.
My furniture was a very light colour and consisted of a large chest of draws and a smaller one, when I lived with Mum and Dad my wardrobe was actually the old airing cupboard so I never actually purchased one myself. However when we put the furniture in our spare room we decided that we need to buy a wardrobe as there was no way mine and Marks things were going to fit in the wardrobe that was in our room, as we didn't want to buy all new furniture we decided to buy a plainish wardrobe in the same colour as the existing furniture so that it matched.
For our room we purchased the Vancouver range furniture, it was reasonably priced so we decided to buy a wardrobe in this range as well, it was ideal as they did a colour which matched our existing furniture, this one was ideal as it had quite a lot of storage space for a small wardrobe as well as a full length mirror which was exactly what we wanted.
The Vancouver 2 Door 3 Draw Mirrored Wardrobe came flat packed and all the pieces came inside a large cardboard box, this was pretty plain apart from the name of the product on it. Inside the box the pieces of the wardrobe were not individually wrapped to help protect them, but luckily ours arrived undamaged, although I would have like to see something in-between the pieces to prevent them from scratching each other, the door which contained the mirror did have some sort of packaging around it but this was just to protect the mirror from breaking whilst it was being transported. Also inside of the box was a small bag containing all of the screws and fittings needed to assemble the item.
In the Vancouver range you can buy a wardrobe in about 3 different styles, we went for the 2 Door 3 Draw Mirrored Wardrobe as it suited us perfectly. As the name suggests the wardrobe consists of a regular wardrobe with a small chest of draws build in, the wardrobe as one full length door with the other door being shorter, the bottom half is where the 3 draws are located, the shorter door also is mainly taken up with a large rectangle mirror.
Other features of this wardrobe include one hanging rail which is located towards the back of the wardrobe and goes the whole width of it, it also contains 2 shelves inside, on is at the top and again goes the whole width and the second is actually the top of the draws and goes about half the width of the wardrobe, however it does cover the full depth of it.
The 3 draws within the wardrobe are on the bottom right hand side as you face the wardrobe, the fronts match the colour of the wardrobe itself whilst the insides are plain white, each draw is on easy glide metal runners. All 3 of the draws and both of the wardrobe doors have silver coloured plastic handles, these are quite long, and whilst they are reasonable thin they are easy to grip when opening the doors and draws.
When assembled the whole thing measures 206cm (H) 100cm (W) and 58cm (D) personally for us this was an ideal size, we didn't want anything too big that would take over the room, we also found the wardrobe to be deceptively big, it seemed to have quite a lot of storage space inside with the 3 draws and 2 shelves as well as the hanging rail, originally Mark used this wardrobe and he found it plenty big enough for all of his clothes, and now Jayden uses it he has a lot of room for all of his things.
When it comes to putting the Wardrobe together it is recommend that 2 people do it, personally I have to agree with this as there is no way that someone could put this together alone. The wardrobe comes with an instruction leaflet which was as good as this sort of thing gets, it was reasonably detailed and included diagrams, however personally I never think that flat packet furniture instructions are that good. Mark and my Dad put most of the wardrobe together, although me and my Mum did help at times, it didn't take them too long, once they had a few of the pieces screwed together the whole thing started to become more stable making it easier,
I think the trickiest part was putting the doors on and getting them adjusted so that they were level and closed properly, this involved a bit of swearing and huffing and puffing from the men but after a few alteration of the hinges they were hanging level and closing correctly as well. Overall I would say that the assembly was reasonably straight forward but some parts were a little fiddly.
This particular wardrobe is part of the Vancouver range as I have already mentioned and it comes in 5 different wood shades, these include
We selected the wardrobe in Maple effect, we wanted a really light wood effect to match the rest of our furniture and decided that this was the closest match, when the wardrobe arrived and was put next to the rest of the furniture in the room the colour match was near perfect, if the different items were next to each other you could see a slight shade difference, however when set out in the room you really couldn't tell that the wardrobe was different. For us the match was ideal and it saved us a lot of money in that we didn't have to buy a whole new set of furniture.
Price and Availability
We purchased this item from Argos online, it was only suitable for home delivery and could not be reserved and picked up in store. The wardrobe is currently sold for £169.99, I think when we purchased ours a few years ago it was a little cheaper than this. When we first bought this we were reasonably pleased with the price, it was a lot cheaper than some ranges we looked at which was ideal as we only wanted this for our spare room.
Since we first purchased the Vancouver 2 Door 3 Draw Mirrored Wardrobe I have been extremely pleased with it, despite it being from a cheap range of furniture it does seem to be of a reasonable quality, we purchased other items from the Vancouver range for our own bedroom but were so disgusted with the quality of them we ended up replacing them just over a year later, however the wardrobe was totally different and appears sturdy and strong.
I now use this wardrobe for Jayden and it is ideal, the large shelf inside gives me somewhere to store all of his toiletries which I seem to have a large back log of and all of the extra space in the bottom of the wardrobe and on top of the draws gives me somewhere to keep toys and books.
I like the fact that one of the doors is a large mirror, we only had small mirrors in the house so by buying this wardrobe we had a full length mirror which we were pleased about.
Overall we have been very pleased with the Vancouver 2 Door 3 Draw Mirrored Wardrobe, it was ideal when Mark was using it and now makes a handy storage space for Jayden, if I had one complaint with it it would be that the draws are a little shallow, this is fine for Jayden's things but Mark did struggle with putting some items in the draws. I would recommend this item, although I would say be careful when it comes to buying from the Vancouver range as this is the only item that we have had that hasn't fallen apart from this range.
