The Range
by Clanger1
we bought a sofa from The Range Doncaster in November 2010 in December 2011 one of the springs broke they came to mend it on the 20 December 2011, on Christmas morning sitting on the opposite side of the sofa another spring had broken, off we went again to complain only to be told that we had to prove it wasn't our fault, we has to give ... them a cheque of £30 that wouldn't be cashed if it was a manufactorers fault. It was proven its a manufactorers fault more than one spring has broken now. They want to repair it again and I have lost confidence in the sofa and want a replacement to be told from head office if we do not accept the repair then there is nothing they can do for us. So reluctantly I have to accept. My advice is
DO NOT BUY FURNITURE FROM THE RANGE go to a reputable furniture company I wish we had
Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired too from Head Office Read the complete review |

The Range

We ordered funiture from the Range Bradford store and I was told delivery would be approx 5 weeks which was ok. The furniture actually arrived 2 weeks earlier which was great but on unwrapping a Canterbury Display Unit found it to be faulty. I rang that day to advise and was told I would be contacted in 2 days to deliver a replacement ... so I was very happy with that. Then it all went wrong I rang because I had not heard and again fobbed off - then after 6 different phone calls and 6 different people and then speaking to Customer Service it all fell apart because all I kept getting was that we cannot give you a delivery date - which I would not accept. We then complained to Barclays who were financing the interest free as I was due to pay the first payment on 22nd March and I had not promise of them completing the order.
It became obvious that the replacement unit had not been ordered until 2 weeks after advising them but only after having to become very irrate on the phone and with a Team Leader telling me that they had completed the delivery even though the unit I had was damaged. I pointed out that I am a Purchasing Manager and had a good knowledge of contract law. Eventually we got an approx delivery date which is going to be 4 weeks after the broken unit was delivered. I went into the Halifax store and was dealt with by a very helpful gentleman who showed me that they did had spare units in their hub which should have been allocated to me. He then rang the Bradford store on my behalf and spoke to one of the same people named Nadeem who again became very aggitated on the phone - the Store Manager was also spoken to and I could tell that they were saying very rude things about me on the other end of the phone but I did eventually get them to allocate a unit to me which they say will be here 7-10 days. Time will tell - but I believe the sign of a good company is how they deal with problems and I would avoid the Range Bradford store like the plague - customer service does not exist - go somewhere and pay more if you want the furniture to be ok. The Range
by Thony
The Range is a large chain of stores across the country selling a broad selection of home and garden products as well as furniture, pet supplies, arts and crafts accessories and lots more.
Having recently moved into my first home I needed to stock up on lots of bits and pieces and well as furniture. I was shopping mostly for ... kitchen things and a few other accessories.
I found The Range to be cheap and have a good selection of quality products. For example I bought a large wooden chopping board for £13 having seen very similar ones in other kitchen stores for closer to £70. They are excellent for plastic goods such as bins, drawer organisers and draining boards as well as smaller kitchen items like wooden spoons and sieves.
I purchased a coffee table from them for my living room. It was a very good price for a solid wood piece of furniture and they even carried it to my car for me. It came flat packed and whilst not the easiest thing to assemble it didn't take too long before it was together. They had a couple of other pieces of furniture I wanted which they din't have in stock. These are, however, now being ordered in for me.
Their website leaves a lot to be desired, not having their full range of products online and a little difficult to navigate. Their stores are excellent however and highly recommended. The staff have always been helpful in my experience and prepared to go the extra mile to help us out. Read the complete review |
