Advantages: You learn how to do plumbing yourself !!!
Disadvantages: Stress, Long Waits, Incompetent Staff.
We had a leaking overflow pipe from the loft so phoned homecare and they booked me a visit for the next day with Dyno rod. Dynorod turn up and climb in the loft. 2 minutes later he appears and says its the central heating header tank leaking at the overflow so i will need to re-book with homecare as this is not a plumbing problem. In the meantime he drained some of the water out of the central heating to see if this stopped the leak. It did until about 20 minutes after he had gone. then i noticed the stoptap he had undone was dripping slightly wetting my carpet. So i phone homecare again and they book me for the following day 12-6pm, they said he can also do my service on his visit. Next day 6pm arrives and no engineer, he finally arrives at 6.40pm. Off he goes upstairs with his ladder and then says my loft is inaccessible due to health and safety and he will not be able to get at the tank to change the ballvalve. He says the tank will need to be moved at a cost of approx £700 !!! I tell him to forget it, so off he goes to fix the dripping valve, tightens it with his spanner and says thats fixed. Next to do is the service, he looks at the boiler and says it is now getting too late so we will have to rebook !! Off he goes in his van after wandering around looking at a laptop and basically not doing a lot. After hes gone i notice the valve is dripping again !! So next day i go to the plumbers merchant and buy a ballvalve £5.79 and a £0.29p washer for the leaking stopvalve and drain the system to fit them myself, which takes me about 2 hours. My wife phoned homecare customer services to complain and was offered £10 compensation. She refused as this didnt even cover the parts and cost of petrol. Still waiting for a manager who promised to call back. TO ANYBODY READING THIS REVIEW "DO NOT"use British gas homecare. They are a complete joke and dont know what they are doing. I will be cancelling my contract.
Summary: Would have given a zero star rating if there was an option. Absolutely shocking service !!!
