Advantages: Lower Premiums

I have always had trouble finding a decent home contents insurance company. Living in a council house, and in an area of deprivation, most insurance companies either refuse to quote or the premiums are prohibatively expensive.

Plymouth council have helped by starting an insurance scheme via Royal. Again this is very expensive, and the cover is poor.

When this insurance came up for renewal I phoned around. Direct line proved very helpful. They took time to explain the diferent types of cover.

I made a saving of 40% over the council backed scheme. The cover was better and when we moved this year they lowered the premium and sent us a rebate within seven days.

Today I dropped my laptop - down conrete steps - When they have sorted this out I will update my opinion.

But for now - highly recommended - put them at the top of your list
