Policy made void ,now sorted update!!! (Lloyds TSB insuredirect)

Advantages: in my case none.

Disadvantages: no comment.

I too signed up with Lloyds insure direct and agree with the opinions already written, that it is cheap ,and covers just the things you need it to. I also liked the service of having accomodation paid for, if you become homeless, because of a disaster. I was staggered today to find out via a relative who was updating their policy ,that our insurance is void, because we live within a mile radius of a bad subsidance. It's a good job we have found this out before being burgled or suchlike.

Has anyone else had this experience?

I now think it is a good idea to take legal advice before taking out insurance. Find out what might void your policy, I thought when I was asked the question have you had any subsidence, it just meant MY property. I do know, that if you don't give an accurate account of your affairs and property, it can avoid the policy, but what a shock!!!

UPDATE: Lloyds are talking to their underwriters on my behalf to confirm
whether the policy I have is affected by this clause.

I will add to this opinion later, when I know more..........

this was a week ago No reply!!
My last request was answered by phone ,a phone message HAS NO LEGAL STANDING,AND Has
NO LEGAL VALUE!!!! So I am still waiting and paying Insure Direct for this policy.
Update:I finally recieved a letter on the 22nd may 2001,from a Customer services manager to confirm that cover will be okay,but this has to be looked at by new policy holders ,because my son was refused further cover for some eqipment he wanted to insure because of this clause.This was by another company.
So if there has been subsidence within this radius make sure your bank can cover you aga
