Advantages: Best quote we got, great customer service in our dealing so far

A couple of years ago my girlfriend was due to renew our home contents insurance (well - its her house, our home) and did the usual internet searches and an additional search on Tesco.co.uk. Tesco beat the cheapest quote from the comparison website by around £40 per year, which is a pretty good saving. We live in a 3 bed house and had requested much more that necessary on re- building costs and more than necessary on contents cover, although we do have a lot of electrical equipments and some expensive items of furniture and jewellery.

We were also able to cover her engagement ring which I paid nearly £1500 for, shhhh, don't let her see this, lol and took out accidental damage cover on floors, electrical items and furniture. This also covered the jewellery and both of our watches whilst we were away from the house..... all for around £25o per year, which is an absolute bargain compared to the other quotes we got.

There is a high level of public liability in there too, in case someone where to have an accident in our home, they too would be covered.

The website was really easy to use, they do ask a lot of information and makes severla presumptions (no criminal records, no smokers etc).

She did telephone the customer service departement once we had received the policy as there were a few things she wanted to check with them, add and discuss. They were brilliant, very helpful and speedy in answering the phone. I would have confidence in them should we ever need to claim (and hopefully not).

Summary: They do not always come up on comparison websites so may be worth checking out
