Advantages: Cheap enough at its current sale price, lets a lot of light shine through
Disadvantages: Cheaply made
The one thing that ended up not matching my bathroom accessories recently when I was revamping it was the lampshade. I had something up similar to this but a bit long in and in a clear bead that is so beautiful I thought it would look far nicer in my living room and I wanted something in a pink colour to match everything else I have bought.
This I found on the Argos website www.argos.com at the cheap price of £7.49. It looked really attractive online and is of course available in the Argos catalogue too.
I bought this in the light pink shade though it is also available at the price as I have already quoted in blackcurrant, duck egg, clear and for the same price though usually they retail at £14.99 each.
These come in a box which simply tells us what they are on it, the colour shade chosen, the measurements are listed and contact details for Argos are given.
The Lampshade Itself:
When you pull the lampshade out of the box it is ready to be put straight up and you get a little clear bag of a couple of spare fittings so that if any beads fall off the rings given can be used to repair the lampshade easily.
This is really easy to attach and of course you simply remove the lightbulb, pop this on and then rescrew it in or slot it depending on the bulb fitting of course and this is suitable for up to 60W BC bulbs.
As I have mentioned I own the blush pink option and its cascading in style and measures H32cm.
The beads are attached to a a round chrome and robust section with the plastic light pink and transparent beads in mainly round shapes in different lengths. This is great for my small room as it doesn't hang too low and being transparent beads and with them hanging in lines it does allow the light to be rather bright which is something I appreciate. The longer beads are larger more triangle shaped droplets and random to give a chandelier look and this is actually very pretty.....from a distance.
This close up though looks and feels cheap. It is robust enough but the beads really do look cheap closer up but like I say from a distance does look a bit like coloured glass more than plastic. I like the look of this well enough but with so many gaps between the gaps of beads it does looks a bit sparse and like some may be missing. It does my bathroom but really it doesn't look classy or grand enough for my other rooms.
Worth £7.49 which is the sale price at the moment but had I of bought this for £14.99 it wouldn't be hanging in my bathroom but would be back in Argos!
Only available from Argos stores.
Summary: A nice enough lampshade but nothing special
