“ Manufacturer: Argos / Type: Ceiling Lamp „
I live on a shoestring budget and recently found myself in need of two new light fittings - one for the living room and one for the kitchen. Our living room light actually hadn't worked for months, but when the kitchen one went I decided to kill two birds with one stone.
First stop for potential lights - Argos. I know Argos aren't always the cheapest around and I always check prices on the same or comparable items, but this is usually the first place I check for various items, and in this case is ultimately where I ended up purchasing lights from.
The light itself:
The design is very contemporary, as you can see from the photo - it has 3 lights coming down from the base, with a metal swirl off each one and a glass 'cover' over each of the bulbs. The main section of the glass is frosted, with clear ends.
The fitting is light weight, but sturdy and doesn't feel cheap, tacky or fragile.
Light bulbs are not provided with this item although argos do list those which are compatible. If you have a dimmer switch you'll have to use SES fitting candle bulbs. If you have a traditional flip switch, you can use the equivalent energy saving lightbulbs.
I don't profess to know much about DIY and I didn't fit these lights myself, however my boyfriend put this up in about 5 minutes and he has no electrical training. So I would say that it's straight forward to fit for anyone with any DIY knowledge.
This light fitting comes in a strudy cardboard box, with the glass shades individually wrapped in bubble wrap. This is very effective at protecting the light during transit, but not excessive to the point of having lots of unnecessary waste.
When I was looking through the Argos catalogue I noticed this light was priced at £29.99 which I thought was a perfectly reasonable price and one that I was happy enough to pay. When I went on to the argos website to check availability at my local store I was very happy to see that the price had been reduced to just £19.99! I don't know if this will be a permanent price change or not though.
