“ Brand: Homebase / Type: Chandelier „
Ever since we moved into our home almost 3 years ago I have absolutely hated the light fixture in my lounge, to my mind it was more of a kitchen light. What I really wanted was something sparkly and long but with a husband well over 6 foot and ceilings that are not overly high we were restricted. I recently spotted the Laura Chandelier in my local Homebase it was a chandelier style light but with a drop of just 31cm's it meant Mark wouldn't head butt it every time he walked across the room, and as an added bonus it was half price, £19.99 instead of £39.99.
The Laura chandelier is packed in a sturdy black box with a picture of the light on the front. It gives a brief description of the chandelier and a brief idea of fitting it. According to the box the Laura Chandelier is:- easy to assemble, easy to fit, will fit to an existing lamp holder and requires no lighting. Apart form giving the bulb size which is 60W maximum or 11W if you are using an energy saving bulb, there is no other information on the box.
On opening the box I was pleased to see that the light was packed really well, each little black glass droplet was individually wrapped in tissue paper and secured with a metal tie. Homebase give you an instruction leaflet but really the chandelier is fitted in exactly the same way you would put a new lampshade up, it was very quick and easy and you don't need to be an electrician to complete the task.
The chandelier is made up from 5 rows of metal curls which are flocked in a black colour, these give the chandelier its oval shape. Going around the chandelier are 3 rows of black round glass beads linked together with silver rings, on each of these rows of beads are large tear shaped black glass beads which drop from small chains of beads and around the centre of the light there are a further 10 tear shaped droplets all made from black glass which hang from the flocked curls.
Once up the Laura Chandelier looks fabulous, all the glass beads sparkle and the flock effect gives it a stylish glam look, it sets of the lounge beautifully In my opinion this chandelier would be suitable for a lounge or bedroom but that's just me. We use an energy saving candle shaped bulb in it and being an open design we get plenty of light. The bulb lights up the chandelier rather than the chandelier dulling the bulb.
If you are looking for a chandelier that will add a bit of style and glamour to your room then I would certainly recommend the Laura Chandelier form Homebase. I'm really pleased with mine.
