Advantages: None

Disadvantages: Don't Last Too Long

I think Ikea is great and can happily spend hours wandering around inside, so when we decided to decorate the bedroom this was the first place we headed too.

We had decided decorate in red and black and Ikea had lovely little red lamps for only £1.50 each so I stuck too in the trolley, and then decided we needed to buy the bulbs for them too.

The lamps took small screw in bulbs and Ikea sold a pack of four for only £1.99, which isn't really cheap but neither is it too expensive. These bulbs come in an orange box and once opened the bulbs are sectioned off so they can't rattle about too much.

As normal when I buy bulbs I always take them from the back....the front ones had a habit of being dropped on the ground and then replaced on the shelf, so are fused before you even get them home.

Anyway, I bought two packs and when we got home we put two of these into our new lamps. This was on a Monday night. They are only 25watt so with a red lampshade our bedroom looked really warm and cosy.

Wednesday night I switched on my lamp and the bulb blew, so I replaced it thinking I had a dud one, but on Thursday evening Caroline's blew too. Again we replaced it only for both to blow on Friday evening.

Okay, I thought maybe I had lifted a "bad" box so we opened the new box and started replacing them again.

By Monday evening all four bulbs in the second box and been used and blew within a night. So in one week I had used 8 bulbs.

Now, like I said I know they aren't the dearest on the market but they aren't the cheapest either and I would expect them to last a lot longer than one or two evenings.

If, you want my opinion I would try the cheaper bulbs from Tescos or somewhere similiar as we have had one of these in our ceiling fixture in the bedroom for ages now, and this would be on a lot longer than the lamps would be.

Summary: Not Worth It

These sound like a complete waste of money.
