Advantages: Nice diffused lighting
Disadvantages: Recommended bulb takes ages to warm up
What a cheap nice lamp!
I'm a big fan of lots of diffused lighting in rooms and on a recent trip to Ikea noticed this lamp. Suitable for a desk or bedside lamp you can buy this individually for a fiver or two similar but different sized ones as a package for £12.
The lamp takes the E14 bulb which can be picked up in Ikea at the same time if you wish for less than £3 for 2 energy saving ones. These are screw fit ones but I believe they are used in a few other ikea lamps too. Very easy to install.
The lamp itself is made of a frosted glass block with the power cable coming out from one side and the bulb centered in the lamp. There is a simple pivot switch on the cable so you don't have to turn it off at the socket.
Using the recommended bulb I find that on turning it on the light is very dim and takes a while to warm up to a decent brightness like with many energy saving bulbs. This can be nice for when you don't want the full on brightness but frustrating when it takes 5 minutes before you can see anything. When warmed up the light is nice and diffused with some light leaving the lamp from above.
Otherwise this is a great little cheap lamp for some easy room lighting and decoration.
Summary: Bargain especially with the energy saving bulbs
