Motion Lamp Lava Lamp
Advantages: Very cheap, well made, mesmerising and relaxing to watch.
Disadvantages: Takes a long time to get going, can get extremely hot.
The first thing I will mention is this product came very badly packaged it was purchased via the Amazon Marketplace and they had no protective outer box just put the label on the actual Lava Lamp box and when it arrived it was very badly bashed up it was actually bought for me as a gift which was a shame as it didn't look too appealing once being unwrapped. Fortunately though despite the terrible condition of the box it arrived in everything on the inside was completely intact.
Inside the box you have the base of the lamp which has a a power lead with a small on/off flick switch about 10 inches down the wire. the lightbulb which screws into the inside of the base, the glass bottle and a cap that sits on the top.
Assembling it couldn't be simpler it's simply just stacking it all up and then end result is a lamp which basically looks like a rocket.
Anyone who's owned a lava lamp before knows they take ages to properly get going and they also give off very minimal light certainly more for the attraction of watching it rather than of any practical use. I would say it takes around about an hour for the lamp to actually flow freely so it's not something you switch on unless you intend to leave it on for a while when you're in the room.
The main problem I have with this lamp is it clearly says on the box blue liquid with white lava which when it's switched off is completely correct the issue is that when you have the lamp switched on the high power bulb obviously shines quite a lot of light directly into the bottle. This causes the white lava which floats around to have a very yellow tone to it and it also make these the blue water look clear rather than the nice blue it looks when the light is off.
This isn't a problem for me but definitely is something to consider. If you have children definitely keep this out of reach of them because obviously it's very pretty to look at but it also gets extremely hot to touch and for a child with sensitive hands this could burn them or at the very least give them a nasty shock if they touched it.
Apart from that this is a very affordable lava lamp compared to some of the others on the market and does exactly what it's supposed to. I've had mine for about a year now and have had no problems with it in regards to functionality at all.
Summary: Very affordable lava lamp which is a conversation piece for any room.
