I actually bought these pre-lit twigs around Xmas time, you know how it is, the tree looks fabulous over Xmas with all those gorgeous, sparkling fairy lights then you get into the New Year and start to want to put the decorations away but when you do the room looks bare and drab. I decided a good way to relieve the feeling of New Year blues would be to buy something else with fairy lights on it that I could use all year, so step forward Premier Pre-lit Decorative Twigs.
I paid £9.99 for my set from a local discount store but I saw them online at the time too for about the same price. They come in white, silver, gold, brown and black and because our living room is light and airy I went for white. It's more a cream than a white if I'm honest but it fits our décor anyway.
The twigs are 1.2 metres in height and consist of 5 gnarled looking twigs that are about 1 cm thick with lots of little bits of thin strips covering them to make them look like real twigs (just like the picture above). The twigs have 80 lights spread evenly over them and come with a transformer style adaptor so you can plug that in and to unplug just pull the little plug out of the side. From the transformer to the twigs there is 5 metres of cable length so most people will be able to find a socket within that amount of space. Our socket is tucked away behind a piece of furniture so I bought a switch from Boyes for 99p and my partner attached this along the cable so I just have to flick the switch to turn them on and off rather than fumble around behind the furniture trying to use the transformer.
These twigs are designed to stand in a vase, no water obviously! I bought a wooden vase to stand mine in but a glass one looks as nice too. Once in the vase they can be fanned out to create that kind of effect or kept together to keep the lights close to each other. They look very nice when stood in a corner so the wall supports the twigs but they don't need that support, they manage to remain upright without it.
I would say just a quick word of warning about these twigs and children, children will be able to break them if they are rough with them and the thin strips of twig around the main ones are also a bit sharp so it's probably best to keep children away from them. I don't have children so this isn't a problem for me but my sister-in-law does and she just keeps her two away from her set.
So how do they look? They look lovely, the little LED lights glow and twinkle and give any room a nice atmosphere. Unlike some LED lights these are not too bright to even look at, they are a nice subtle yellow colour rather than bright white and that makes them a nice subdued but pretty addition to your room. I use mine all the time and switch them on along with one lamp to give the room a warm glow. I found these did reduce the New Year blues for me because they replaced the Xmas tree nicely.
For anyone who likes fairy lights as much as me these are beautiful and don't look ugly when they are not lit either. I'm sure they still sell them online, Ebay sellers definitely had some last time I looked which was about a week ago so they are still easy to get hold of. When Xmas rolls around again I will just move these out of the Xmas tree space and have them as well as the tree! They are absolutely lovely and a great way to softly light any room. Highly recommended, I love them!
