Advantages: Good price, well made, looks great.
Disadvantages: Switch is too far down the cord.
I have had this lamp for about 6 months now as working at a desk without a decent light isn't easy at all. I decided to buy a nice looking one rather than a cheaper one from another shop as I wanted something that would last a while and also look good. I opted for this one from Sainsbury's for £8.
It stands 30cm tall and it's base is 7cm in diameter. The base is made of a ceramic material that has been coated in chrome. It comes with a lampshade that is 14cm x 15cm (at widest point), which is light cream in colour and is made from a soft fabric material on the outside. The lamp requires a screw in "candle" bulb which is not meant to be any higher than 40W. The cable is about 1.5m long and it has a click switch about half way down it to turn the lamp on and off easily.
Aesthetically, the lamp looks very nice in the corner of my desk and it fits in with the rest of my room nicely. I could envisage it looking fine in most rooms as the simple design and colours give it a sleek and professional look. Even though it states the maximum wattage should be 40W, I use a 60W bulb in it with no problems as this gives me brighter light on my desk. I find the lampshade is big enough to stop you being blinded by the bright bulb, but it is translucent enough to let enough light through to illuminate my work. I have found that the base to the lamp is big and heavy enough so that the lamp does not topple over easily. Since having it, it has never fallen over despite being knocked quite often.
One thing I don't like about this lamp is the location of the on/off switch on the cable. I find that it is too far away from the lamp itself and I have to lean far down the side of my desk to turn it on or off. If it was brought closer to the lamp, it would make things a lot easier.
For the price I paid, I think it is well worth the money as it looks good and does exactly what I want it to do. I can envisage that this lamp will last me quite a while as it looks very durable and can be used wherever I live or work. These lamps can only be found in Sainsburys as they are part of there "Tu" range, however I'm quite confident that similar looking lamps could be found elsewhere.
Therefore, I am going to give this lamp 4/5 as the switch is not in the right place for me and the bulbs I had to buy for it were not the cheapest and also not energy saving ones.
Thanks for reading!.

Summary: A great lamp at a good price with only a tiny flaw in the design.
