Being in favour of seeking out herbal remedies to deal with every day problems and issues I have tried a number of the Bach products including the Bach Crab Apple Remedy. There seems to be almost a remedy for every mood, moment and ailment of the mind, body and soul amongst the Bach remedies and Bach Crab Apple Remedy is one of those.
Bach Crab Apple Remedy is one to take when you feel you need to cleanse yourself from worries, stresses and issues which may seem unimportant to everyone except yourself. I have found that at times when needing a boost and a feeling of casting away everyday cares and stresses that Bach Crab Apple Remedy can be a help sometimes.
The Bach Crab Apple Remedy is something which I feel works best if you are open minded and positive about the potential benefits it can give. Whilst I do feel that sometimes I have questioned whether Bach Crab Apple Remedy does in fact work or whether the placebo effect has kicked in, I have found that the remedy has helped me in some way at certain times. I really don't mind how or why, as long as it has had a beneficial effect. How it gets you there is of no odds really, so whether its a placebo or the genuine article, if it works, however it works, thats what matters.
The Bach Crab Apple Remedy can be found in many chemists and herbal/ health related shops. Prices for some of the Bach Remedies do vary greatly but can be as high as £5.99 per 20ml bottle. When stocking up on these I try to look around for reductions and offers, as this means I can have something to hand when needed.
If you haven't experienced any of the Bach Remedies then how to take the remedy may be a worry. As with any of these types of things not knowing is often something that puts us off trying something new. The way I use the Bach Crab Apple Remedy and other Bachs Remedies is to use them when I feel I should, rather than on a daily basis as a regular thing to keep the body balanced. I have found they work better on a need to take basis in most but not all cases.
The way I take the Bach Crab Apple Remedy is to place a few drops into a small glass of plain water and sip it. I have tried the other method of using the dropper/ or pipette (which comes set into the lid of the bottle) and placing a few drops on the tongue, but usually favour the water method. I find this means I don't need to worry about not enjoying the taste of a particular Bachs Remedy and can sip my water as I feel the need.
The dose I use is just 2 small drops of the Crab Apple which when needed I take once per day. You can alter the dose to suit, but should never take more than advised. The remedy is something that you can store in a medicine cupboard for some time, as it is within a glass bottle, so should stay fresh if the lid with the dropper is closed well after use. The bottle has a brown tone to it, which I have always assumed is to keep the Bach Remedy out of bright light, but I could of course have gotten that wrong.
To give the product a rating I feel it ought to get 3 stars. I feel this is a good rate for this, as sometimes I feel it works far better than others and so can be a bit hit and miss. I have put this down to frame of mind at the time of taking the remedy, as much as anything and would say that best results seem to be when putting more faith into the remedy being of help.
I go through bouts of mild depression and suffer from anxiety a lot of the time. It is very easy to appear calm and confident on the surface and deep down feel like you are constantly worrying about things. When these things start to build up from with they manifest and create more of a problem. This can be horrendous for your health. I have had countless sleepless nights, worrying about the most mundane and trivial things. I have used several Bach remedies over the last few years and some I have enjoyed more than others.
The Crab Apple is designed to 'cleanse' from within and rid you of worries and problems. It all seems like a quite a dramatic claim, but as I was bought a bottle by a relative, I had little argument not to try it out. Like with all Bach remedies, the lovely squeezy bottle means you can dispense into a glass or straight onto the tongue, in a neat fashion. A few drops usually suffices. I like to take mine neat.
The taste is slightly apple-like, with an earnest bittersweet aftertaste, not wholly unpleasant. I did not notice any instant results when I used it, I certainly did not feel like a new person from within. I persevered and finished the bottle up anyway, but I must admit, it did not provoke much of a change in my way of thinking. My innermost thoughts were still wrought with worry and tension and though it might have induced a small placebo effect shortly after taking it, I do not feel it contributed significantly to my overall health.
What I can say is that the taste and experience of the remedy does perk you up when it hits the tongue, giving a subtle rush of pleasure, perhaps even releasing endorphins and this is a bonus. Would I rush to buy again? Possibly not, but it might be useful to take alongside other health products to really boost your morale and overall health from within.
More than 75 years ago, Dr Bach invented a range of 38 homeopathic remedies made using natural extracts from flowers. The Crab Apple flower remedy is designed to be taken by those who feel the need to be cleansed, and cleaned from the inside out. It's particularly good for people who feel like they have been poisoned, be it by food or drink or by the negative atmospheres around them.
I've tried lots of the flower remedies before and have had good results, so thought I'd try this one when I was recovering from food poisoning and generally felt like an internal spring clean.
My bottle of Crab Apple flower remedy cost £4 online for a 20ml bottle from a homeopathy website. I can recommend looking for this online as from my experience, the full range isn't always easy to find on the high street.
The remedy comes in a small glass bottle with a pipette top like an eye dropper, so you can easily give out the recommended dosage (around 4 drops). The remedy itself is made from spring water mixed with Crab Apple extract and a grape brandy alcohol preservative, which keeps it fresher.
The drops of flower remedy can either be taken directly onto the tongue, which is easiest, but I can't stand the taste as it's too alcoholic for my liking. Instead I put my drops into a glass of water, which is the other recommended method, and then ingest them by sipping it. I really prefer using this method, it's much nicer.
Whilst homeopathic remedies such as this Crab Apple flower remedy might not work for everyone, I find that it worked wonders for me. After about an hour after taking the drops in water, I felt cleaner, less focused on my illness, less poisoned and better in general. I know some people might say it's a placebo, and that an improvement would be seen anyway, but given it only cost me £4 and it helped me to feel better, this might be worth a try even for cynics! Recommended!
When it comes to homeopathic remedies I'm a great fan of them as a rule. I am someone though who does take medication from the Dr and is not a Puritan however I do like these in conjunction with prescribed things.
I suffer with depression. On and off I've had it all my life and at the moment I'm on the highest dose of Prozac you can get and not just for depression either, mine are specifically to help with an eating disorder I suffer from.
Although my Prozac do help me keep my temper and help me with my moods I still get down from time to time and go through stages of hating myself and feeling life is too hard to live. Looking in the mirror and feeling I look huge and basically things that alot of us feel from time to time. However with negative thoughts from me I tend to punish myself by eating the house and chucking up and I know that I do this and it's my release system. This is why I opted to try this product out. As I said earlier in this review I am a huge fan of this range and after reading up about this particular remedy I felt that maybe in times of felling low and hating myself this may do me some good!
Now this crab apple product is meant to be designed to help people who are in a very bad way indeed. People suffering with an unclean feeling, people who are feeling despondent and full of shame and people suffering with OCD are meant to be all helped by this. This particular remedy belongs to the group of remedies from Bach that are to help with despondency and despair such as Oak, Willow, Star Of Bethlehem, Sweet Chestnut, Elm, Pine and Larch. You can of course use this tincture along with others from this particular group if you wish too as well. Like I say though this really is for people heavily depressed and at their wits end really.
Dark brown see-through bottle with a light cream coloured label around it's middle and a screw on/off cap containing a light pink rubber thing you gently squeeze to get the liquid through the clear tube inside to use it.
On the front of the label I am told it is Bach 'Original Flower Recipes' Crab Apple 'Malus Pumila' and the size is stated which in this case is a 10ml size. Around the back of the bottle other information given tells me about how to use it and contact details for Bach are given. Nice enough bottle this is and if your at all familiar with the brand of which is Bach this is the same as all of their other tincture style of products.
How To Use It:
2 drops in a cup of water and sip at intervals, or in 1oz (30ml) bottle of spring water and/or take 4 drops on the tongue at least 4 times daily.
Me Taking It:
Well I take this in a drink or straight onto the tongue and both ways suit me just fine to be honest.
I prefer to splodge it on my tongue to get it out the way opposed to sipping it over time but I can drink it also if desired. Neither way is bad and both ways work for me equally well.
Taste wise this is actually very light on taste. It doesn't taste of anything really although it has a slight hint of a brandy taste to it as it does contain that as it's a preservative used within it. Like I say though it is light in taste.
Does It Work Though?:
Like I find all the Bach tinctures to yes it does for me and of course like all the other products and like I stated at the top of this review you can mix and match remedies up too, and to your hearts content.
I do find this beneficial to me though. I wouldn't at the same time call it a miracle cure but for me it does calm my mind slightly from racing off without me and I do feel calmer so I feel more relaxed and more at ease with myself and the world. Do I look in the mirror and not hate myself? Maybe a little less....yes. My mind gets fogged up after indulging in this so I have less time to obsess over things and it really is a very calming product as promised.
None drowsy formula and easy to take this seriously is and I do think that if your feeling nervous, any self hatred or suffering with a bad self image or OCD over anything this is really worth a try if nothing else! I find it works moderately for me and that moderate help is worth the pennies this costs me!
Expect to pay about £5.99 for a 20ml bottle in places like Boots and other good chemists.
