Most of the time I can drop off to sleep almost straight away but there are times when I just seem to be awake for hours, although I am sure it is not really that long. Even though it is dark and quiet my mind is sometimes so active that it just won't switch off. I have often used these pillow sprays as a way of relaxing and comforting and find that they do help me to drift back off to sleep.
I had this Champneys Perfect Sleep relaxing pillow mist last year as a gift but I have had a look online and it is around £8. The clear plastic bottle is 125ml and it has a gold top which you need to remove to spray the mist. The fragrance is floral and sweet but not too overpowering.
You can either spray it in the centre of the room or directly onto your pillow and I have used it both these ways, but usually directly onto my pillow. I will hold the can about eight to ten inches above my pillow and then press the nozzle to release the spray which comes out in a very fine mist and seems to cover quite a wide area. I find that I only have to spray once to cover the whole of my pillow. Although the spray is obviously liquid it is so fine that it doesn't feel wet as it must absorb directly into the pillow. It doesn't leave any marks or stains however if do have satin sheets I probably wouldn't recommend it as it might leave a mark on these.
I am not sure whether it is the aromatherapy oils which contained in the product but I do find that I relax much quicker when I have sprayed this. I will sometimes spray it before I get in bed if I know I have a lot on my mind, and I have also used it if I have woken up in the night and have not been able to get back to sleep again. I keep it in my bedside drawer so I will just sit up in bed and give the pillow a quick spray and then lie back down and shut my eyes. It does give me a feeling of calmness and well being, I love the smell of the fragrant oils and it does help me to relax and get back to sleep
This is a must have product.
An absolute joy to use and works incredibly well.
I would happily say this is the first product or range I would turn to and always get, if I can't get this I'll try something else, but only as a last resort.
This is from Champneys sleep range aimed to help you unwind and sleep well if you can't drop off easily.
The product has three main oils.
And boy has this company got it right. The Champney brand claims it uses this in their own therapy rooms with customers at the SPA centre so essentially you get that SPA feel at home, for a fraction of the price.
This is a long slim product in a light purple coloured bottle retailing at £8 for 30ml.
This is currently out of stock on their website and in Boots where it is normally stocked when I asked around if they were still doing this product and the 'relaxing/ sleep ' range there were no replies that this would be discontinued.
USES AND EFFECTS
This is used widely and is very popular with Aromatherapists.
Lavender and Patchouli are strong scented oils also almond oil first of all is used to bring balance between the two scents.
Almond oil is known to help soothe the brain, relax the nerves, but it can strengthen your muscles to aid a good sleep.
As you spray this product on your pillow or any bedding that may come in contact with your skin, it is essential that your skin doesn't react any this is a great product to be kind to your skin.
Is known to be very good to aid sleep however only mild sleep not a deep sleep.
Again this works to relax and soothe your tired muscles.
I had no idea until I research the oils before I bought this product [I didn't want it to affect my skin] and this also is a great product to help you sleep.
The aroma is known to have sedative effects, it won't knock you out and its not dangerous but it a natural oil to help relax you.
Together these oils have produced a calming and effective product.
HOW MUCH DO YOU NEED?
It can depend, it instructs only a few sprays and I tend to stick to that, I didn't want the scent to be sickly and I find it is perfect just a gentle scent to help you unwind.
Obviously using oils you'd think there would be a lot of patches of oil on your pillow but I didn't find it left a horrible oil patch at all. I change my pillow cases every couple of days and definitely if I'm using oils such as this.
On the skin,[ mine is sensitive] it didn't do a thing. I was so relieved.
This product is sometimes sold in a range or a deep purple giftbox so you can get an eye mask and cream as well as a shower gel, altogether it is blissful.
I've wrote quite a few reviews over my time on this site all based around my search for the perfect night's sleep. I don't have trouble sleeping all the time but I go through phases where I have periods of being simply unable to fall asleep. Once I've nodded off I can sleep for hours but it's the actual falling asleep I sometimes have issues with so I always like to have products on hand to use when these troubles crop up. I've tried many things over the years and none of them have seemed to work too well - or they work for a while and then my body becomes used to them and they stop so I'm always searching for new products to use. I actually came across this 'Champneys Relaxing Pillow Mist' by chance - my mom got a large set for Christmas and she didn't think much of this particular product so I got the opportunity to try it out - and I actually love it! One woman's rubbish is another's ... good night's sleep!!
Price: Around £7.50 - 50ml bottles
Stockists: Boots & their website & this is also available straight from Champneys websites.
Other Info: This is a professional spa formula and I guess a product they actually use in a Champneys spa - made me feel a bit fancy using it if I'm totally honest. This product is also dermatologically tested so it should be fine to use even if you have sometimes sensitive skin - Champneys are the self appointed professionals after all!
The packaging for this spray is very simple yet classy - which fits in with the brand name very well in my opinion. It comes in a clear, glass 50ml bottle with purple and gold lettering all over it - I do have one query related to that but more on that later. Printed all over the front and back of the bottle is all the necessary information on the product - claims, directions for use, background information on the brand, shelf life (24M) but strangely enough there are no ingredients. I assumed with such a high class brand there would be a list of ingredients for allergy sufferers - it doesn't bother me so much but if you have any allergies to items sometimes used in this kind of product I recommend checking their website out. My one issue with the packaging is the lettering is actually quite hard to read because it's so light against the transparent bottle - once again I can mostly read this so it's not a massive issue but for people with sight problems it will be a problem. At the top of the bottle is a chunky gold pull-off lid which is very easy to remove and put back on, underneath is the usual push down nozzle - nothing out of the ordinary there. As I said simple, mostly effective & very classy packaging - Id definitely look twice at this in a store.
Using this spray is very simple - although with it being such a high end brand Champneys do offer some professional advice! Apparently to make this work at maximum effectiveness its best to have a nice long bath before spritzing this all over your pillow and bed linen and getting into bed for a *hopefully* nice long sleep! I have to admit I don't think it effects the results too much whether you have a bath beforehand or not but I can see how that would make you more relaxed and maybe really benefit some people - I'm not a 'bath person' though so I don't tend to use it that way very often. A few quick sprays of this on my pillow and I'm good to go ... to sleep! The scent of this spray is very much what you'd expect from a sleep aid as it is very standard - very nice but exactly what I was expecting. You might guess this smells very strongly of lavender - which as that's known as a natural sleep aid is very fitting for a product of this type. The smell is very pleasant - not amazing but I don't think it needs to be really - just the right intensity as it's easy to smell but not so strong the scent would actually keep you awake instead. It's actually very pleasant - I look forward to bedtime for smelling this to be honest.
I'm very happy to report this genuinely works wonders for me. I now use this every single night - not just when I'm having a problem falling asleep as it's become part of my night time routine, I even took it on holiday with me!! The scent instantly relaxes me and I think my brain has started to associate the scent of this with a good night's rest because whenever I use it I fall asleep so much quicker and even wake up in the morning feeling more rested and relaxed than I normally would. I would definitely say this is the best natural sleeping aid I've ever used and I'm very happy I got to try it out for free before I go and purchase myself another bottle. This spray really works for me personally and there's nothing better than a really good night's sleep in my opinion so for that reason alone I fully recommend this. If you have troubled sleep or just if you fancy a really relaxing night sleep every now and again this is the perfect product for you. I highly recommend this - I guess the professionals really do know best!!
Thanks For Reading.

Since finding out I was expecting my first baby I have been using various mother and baby sites for products and just general information. On one site a lot of mums were recommending Champneys Relaxing Pillow Mist. I had heard of Champney trough reviews on here but have never tried any of their products. I recently have been having terrible trouble sleeping resulting in an uncomfortable night of fidgeting and feeling tired and worn out in the day. After a particularly bad night I remembered the Pillow Mist and decided to give it a try.
I ordered my Pillow Mist from Amazon as I had some vouchers to use, I paid approximately £6.00 for a 50ml bottle, this is quite an average price although it does vary slightly depending on where you buy from.
The Pillow Mist comes in a pretty clear bottle so you can see the liquid inside, I like bottles like this you always know how much is left. The bottle looks quite glamorous with a gold lid, The bottle has Champneys written across the top in a gold band alongside some gold flowers. The front of the bottle informs the customer that this is from the spa treatments range. It also tell us that it is Pillow Mist and contains Lavender and patchouli. The bottle has a pump action spray which releases a nice fine mist.
Champneys recommend that you mist your bed linen with this after a nice relaxing bath. So after a hectic day where everything that could go wrong had gone wrong I had a long soak in the bath and tried my pillow mist. I sprayed the mist over the bed linen and got in. The smell is wonderful. Lavender is definitely the dominant fragrance and the patchouli gives it a musky smell. I loved the smell straight away. In stead of then laying there for half the night with my mind going round in circles and my legs fidgeting I drifted of into what was the best nights sleep I've had in a long while. I certainly woke up the next day feeling rested and much more like my old self.
I have now been using my Champneys Relaxing Pillow Mist for about 3 weeks and it had made a huge difference to me. I'm not sure why this works, I know Lavender oil has relaxing properties but there's something about this fragrance that is very calming. It may even be all in my mind, I think its working so it does, but whatever the reasons I personally wouldn't hesitate to recommend this. I have so far used about half of the mist so its working out very reasonable price wise. I have no idea how long the smell actually lasts for because I always doze of smelling it so it lasts at least 10-15 minuets.
I will certainly buy another bottle of this before I run out, I have felt so much more relaxed and slept better since I've been using the mist. The fragrance is gentle and mainly lavender. If you are having problems relaxing at night then I would suggest trying this, its been brilliant for me.
I first tried Champneys Perfect Sleep Relaxing Pillow Mist when a good friend of mine put together a stress busting kit for me when I was going through a really hard time and she was giving me things that she thought would help me chill out and relax a little. Sleep was hard to come by and so I was keep to try this product - although I possessed serious doubts that it would work. Having said that, the theory behind this spray is that it contains lavender and patchouli (a member of the mint family) essential oils which are known for their relaxing and soporiphic properties. As I said, this was part of a present and so I didn't buy it myself, but I have since seen it in boots for £7.50 - which seems about the right price for a product of this type. Clearly it is not a necessity product, but a luxury product and so I expect more than the bare minimum.
The Champneys Perfect Sleep Relaxing Pillow Mist comes in a glass bottle which is transparent so you can see how much of the product that is left in the bottle. I have only ever seen the bottle in one size which contains 50mls of the solution. The bottle is sold in a box which contains comprehensive product information and user instructions. The solution itself is emitted via an aerosol type nozzle which is depressed in order to emit a fine spray of the pillow mist. I did generally, as the name directs, stray the mist directly onto my pillow, but actually I have also started to spray a little bit of this on my pyjamas as well when I'm getting ready for bed. Because the spray is so fine, it doesn't make any of the fabrics feel damp or sticky - and so all that's left is a subtle aroma which is something that I quickly habituate to.
The aroma is overwhelmingly of lavender - although this aroma is fairly subtle - or seems subtle after being exposed to it for a few minutes. Despite my early reservations about the effectiveness of this product, I have to say that the mist actually does seem to work and I have found that I have become more relaxed and found it easier to get to sleep than without the mist. Having said that, I don't think the mist helps me to stay asleep any longer and I still get the same bad dreams, but getting to sleep is a big deal for me in itself! I would estimate that using the spray mist helps me to get to sleep about three times quicker than using nothing at all.
Overall, I would recommend that anyone who has trouble relaxing try this product. It's not that expensive - and if it works for you, it can make a big difference to your energy levels and your overall feeling of well-being and health. I will be continuing to use it for the foreseeable future.
I have used this product before and found that it was amazing and really worked. I stopped using for a while and when I fell pregnant I started having trouble sleeping and so did my husband due to all my wriggling around trying to get comfy! So I went out and bought a perfect sleep pillow mist. A blend of Chamomile, lavender and mandarin promises to help to soothe you to sleep and help relax you. I spray onto my bed linen anda round the bedroom about 10 mins before going to bed so the fragrance has some time to settle and isn;t over powering and have found that it really works as it helps to calm you down and relax you. It really has made a difference to my sleeping patterns and as I get a more peaceful nights sleep so does my husband! Some people may be put off by the lavender fragrance however if you let it settle the mandarin comes through.
I am prone to suffering with sleeplessness and this is increased if I have ongoing stress in my life which seems to be becoming more and more frequent lately. For Christmas I received, amongst other things, lots of Champneys product and I received a 'perfect sleep' gift set which contained a body butter, body milk & a pillow mist. I received a 50ml bottle within my set which retails for £6.50 on the Champneys website. I'm very pleased that the items in the Champneys sets are available individually and depending on promotions it's often cheaper to buy the sets with the fancy packaging than the individual items but this is reduced down to £5.00 on the Champneys website at the moment.
This pillow mist comes provided in a press down dispenser bottle making it very easy to emit the fine mist with a gentle press. The mist contains mandarin, chamomile & lavender and it's lavender that is the predominant smell that comes through with this pillow mist. I find it best to spray this on my bedding and pillow giving just a light mist everywhere I want it, without saturating anything, and then I leave it a few minutes before getting in to bed. The scent is quite strong, without being overpowering, and I have found that it helps to relax me as soon as I climb in to bed. I have been making a conscious effort not to have too much stimulation when I go to bed such as not using my phone or reading books before bed and with this combination I've found myself unwinding from the stresses of the day a lot easier and drifting off to sleep easier.
It's fair to say that I've been very pleased with the results of this pillow mist. I have been using it nightly for around 3 weeks now and I've been feeling a lot more rested and not having such broken sleep throughout the night. I have used this several times in conjunction with the bath milk & the body butter and while the result is still the same (nice sleep!) I've found myself feeling fresher and more alert when I wake up in the morning. This is probably due to having some decent sleep though more than anything!
I would definitely recommend this product if you are looking for something to help you sleep at night but I'd firmly recommend that you spray this before you get in to bed and not when you are already in bed because it may cause your eyes to sting a little bit and it's not the most pleasant taste either, as I learnt! I will definitely be using this again and would happily buy a bottle of this for £6.50 and I estimate it would last about 6-8 weeks depending on how much you use. I have been spraying both sides of the bed (left & right) and pillows and it's not using a large amount of the spray at all.
I am quite fortunate in the sense that I seldom have any trouble sleeping. However my other half is a very restless sleeper and consequently I often end up being disturbed. I hoped that this product from Champneys might provide the answer.
As you can see from the image, the product comes in a tall, clear bottle with a gold lid, which looks simple but elegant and has the added bonus that you can see how much of the product is left. The spray mechanism is simple and easy to use, it is a pump action spray so no aerosol to worry about. As suggested by the name, when you depress the button on the top you pump out a fine mist of spray. Although it is very fine, I would recommend spraying this product a few minutes before you get into bed, as you can feel a very slight damp sensation immediatley after spraying. This is very quick to disappear though, so a few minutes is ample.
The smell is predominantly lavender which is well known for aiding restful sleep. The product also contains relaxing chamomile and balancing mandarin. I wouldn't have identified these smells without reading the label although I could detect something else blended with the lavender. If you are not a fan of lavender then I definitely wouldn't recommend this product. My first thought was the the smell was surprisingly strong but again, if you leave it for a few minutes it does calm down. I personally find the smell very comforting and it definitely helps me to feel relaxed and wound down before sleep.
One thing I would say is that I did not think the smell lasted very long. I don't know if its just because my senses quickly adapted to it but after ten minutes or so I couldn't really notice it anymore. This may be a bonus for some people who would find the scent overpowering to sleep in but I really love the fragrance and would like to continue smelling it for longer.
I would definitely say that this product has made me fall asleep more easily and feel in a better state of mind. I have also noticed an improvement in my partner's sleep, he seems to drift off more quickly and wakes me up less, which I presume means his sleep has been more restful. Even if you do not have trouble sleeping, there is something delicious about snuggling into gorgeous smelling sheets so I would still recommend this product.
Perfect Sleep Relaxing Pillow Mist is available at £6.50 from the Champney's website, which I think is quite reasonable as you get a good amount of product and only use a little each night. Larger Sainsbury's stores also stock Champneys products and often have them on offer, although they don't carry the full range.
