When it comes to new kitchens i think that the cooker hood is overlooked but with it been at eye level you need to spend time choosing the right one. This baumatic cooker hood is, in my opinion, a mid-range make as in build and quaility. This model is very sleek and modern looking so is good value considering the price. It benefits from 3 speed setting although you should find that the first 2 are fine. It has 2 washable metallic grease filters, and 2 lights. I think the lights on any cooker hood never last due to the heat and steam so consider replacing these after a year or so. As for the filters, again they will no doubt need replacing after a year or so, this is due to the difficulty of cleaning them. This model is easy to install and light weight, although you should make sure your walls are in good condition. Its basically 2 screws to hold in place, then once on, you can adjust up and down to suit. The metal section at the top can be cut to suit aswell. The filter can be connected to an outside extraction unit if needed. The hood is 600ml wide and 700ml high although the height can be altered. You should be looking at paying between £79 - £90, but no more.

I have fitted quite a few kitchens over the years for myself and for others and everyone seems to forget about the cooker hood. They can be anoying if you don't get a good one.
The baumatic brand is in my eyes a middle of the road brand, good quality and design at reasonable prices and i have no reason to change my opinion.
The styling is quite classic. I wanted something that would not date and i don't think it will.
The constrution is solid and it was easy to fit just a couple of screws but make sure you have something good to fix into.
The hood can be positioned at diffeen heights from the ceiling/extract as the top part is telescopic and can even be cut down if needed.
It can be used venting to outside or just as a filter wher the fans suck the cooking smells up into the filters.
This is where the only issue begins. The filters do not very dirty and they cannot be cleaned very easily so you can consider replacing these. They are not overly expensive. I changed mine after 3 years at a cost of £20. I got sick of trying to clean them
They can be a bit tricky to fit so that they stay level (easy to fit but the levelling part can be a problem) i had to crimp a bit of the frame to do this.
The light is adequate at best and use the kitchen light to greater effect.
The fan is excellent. I never use setting 3. Setting 1 (low) is fine but if you need setting 2 is more than adequate.
I do not know about the energy rating but with limited use i think we are talking pennies per week.
I would buy another and have recommended this to friends
I have one of these hoods in my holiday home in Wales. We all know that cooking in confined spaces especially spicy foods makes everything hold onto the smell.....well not with this hood.It is extremely powerful and if you need that little bit of effort just go to the next speed. It is excellent to clean and the grills come out for easy cleaning the filters are also easily to wash and replace.Take a look of ebay for the reusable washable filters a bit pricey at £25 but at least they last for ages.I find that it does mark when wiped with a damp cloth but buff with a microfibre cloth after and streaks will disappear..... Overall excellent value for money. would i recommend to a friend ......DEFINATELY
