Price I paid 684Euro around £600 In every house I've ever lived in I've never had, or in my opinion needed an extractor hood. Maybe that's because I never cooked. Yeah that's why. Mystery solved. But when I bought my new house and took some pride in furnishing it. I bought a lot of things I didn't actually need and the kitchen was no exception. As with everything in life you can buy cheap or you can go down the expensive line. Neither one guaranteed to be the best option. So when the kitchen was being fitted and measurements where being asked for the guy asked the obvious question of whether or not I would be fitting a hood. And I said yes, more for the overall look of the kitchen and I the slim chance that I may wish to cook something in the very distant future. I selected this brand only because I have other items by the same name, and they have always worked great and have a somewhat commercial, almost industrial look to them. It sat unused for months. Looking good but doing nothing. Then like an absolute fool and typical man (so I've been told) I almost suffocated myself by heating olive oil on a pan and leaving the room. I wasn't gone for long but when I returned it was like a seen out of the movie back draft. Thick horrible smelling smoke poured under the closed door setting off every alarm in the house. Oh yes I forgot to add my almost 700Euro extractor hood was still unused hovering over the smoking pan like a UFO. I must stress that even if the fan had been on it wouldn't have maid a huge difference, because what I did was deserving of a gold medal in the stupidity Olympics. It did clear out the room faster than the open backdoor alone, which shows its power I suppose. But that was a bad start to something I've learned to appreciate. I have started cooking more now, and have learned my lesson. I have noticed that this hood actually does a great job. Simply boiling some potatoes creates a lot of steam, which would otherwise go up and eventually discolour the paintwork on the ceiling. And fog up the windows with wet running condensation. But with the extractor hood there are no such problems. The Fisher & Paykel EC901XV1 has a sophisticated 90cm Chimney Hood in Stainless Steel It has a strong Power Output of 943 m3ph The Sound Level is 58 dB, like most of these hoods it's not quiet, but I've heard much louder in friends houses. Some can sound like a jumbo jet engine. This one does not. It has a 3 speed, very powerful, centrifugal motor. And uses Micro-mesh filters to purify the air. There are two 20W Recessed Halogen Lights, that illuminate the cooking hobbs perfectly. The controls are very easy to Reach and are situated in the front centre of the hood. All plastic parts are fire retardant And the overall dimensions Of the unit are 1064 x 897 x 528mm (H x W x D) I had to almost burn down my house to realise how useful one of these things are. And to even start using it regularly. But I'm glad I did. It not only looks good but works great. And can save you hundreds in cleaning and redecorating bills in the future. When compared to my friends and family members extractor hoods. I can happily say with confidence: I recommend this model highly.
