mazworld15 Melia Hotel Alicante: ... husband, myself and our 11 year old son stayed at the Melia Alicante for 4 days in August. We booked the hotel as we d managed to get some cheap flights and the hotel was situated with the harbour on one side and the beach on the other. That unfortunately was the most positive point! When we arrived at the hotel our room had only one double bed and despite being promised another bed would be put in the room, this ...

SugarSpun Express by Holiday Inn Rome East
... booked this as a surprise trip for my parents, brother and I, along with a cheap flight, because I was on a serious budget for 4 people and this was a very cheap option. I knew from the website that it was a way out of the city, but was happy enough because they claimed to have a shuttle bus to the subway every 30 minutes. This was a flat out fib on their part - it went once every 90 minutes during our stay, and if it was full ten minutes before it was due to leave, leave it would, and it wouldn t come back. We spent far too much time waiting for it, staff were incredibly unhelpful when asking where the thing was, and eventually we had to take taxis before we learned ...

SugarSpun Gellert Hotel Budapest
... Gellert Hotel faces onto the Danube from Buda, in a central location. It s a stunning old building complete with fountain outside (at least it s a fountain in summer; in winter it s turned off), doormen who hold doors with a smile and very friendly multilingual desk staff. We arrived in Budapest with a reservation for only the first night - after our first visit we d figured out that if you turn up and ask for a reservation the hotels tend to give you a fantastic rate because they need the business. The Gellert s rate was precisely twice the price of the Hotel Botel Lisa, where we stayed the first time, and was definitely worth more than twice what we paid. We wer...

rachelandgromit Old Sydney Holiday Inn
... here for 2 nights in April. There are mixed reviews on the Holiday Inn and I was a bit nervous about staying here. Upon arriving early, the hotel stored our bags and offered to ring me when the room was ready. I politely asked if we could have a room with a view, but this was not expected as we hadn t paid extra for this and our room was a cheap £60 twin. When we opened our door, nothing could prepare us for the view, we were literally in front of the opera house. Some of the furnishings were a bit dated in the room, as were the fittings in the bathroom but it was clean and the surrounding area more than made up for this. Also, the rooms are massive! The hot...
