Hotel Metropolitan Nikko (New Delhi, India) ... must despair of some of us members and the near-geological timescale we seem to work on. I requested this hotel almost three years ago and have finally got around to writing about it. Proof at last that if I m given long enough I ll eventually get round to almost anything. ~When and Why?~ We visited Delhi at the beginning and end of a tour to Ladakh, high up in the Himalaya range. Ladakh is at such high altitude that you really can only sensibly go in the summer months. And since there s no option other than to go through Delhi to get there, that s an absolutely dreadful time to be in the city in terms of the heat, but a fantastic time to get a bargain on a hotel... Grand Esplanade Hotel Berlin ... first time I visited here I walked in and thought wow and realised instantly I was at the wrong hotel because no way would work be paying for this and walked straight out and found teh correct place . The next time I visited Berlin I was with one of my senior managers and as the taxi pulled up I had to smile as I knew what to expect - doors were opened on the taxi for you luxury hit you in the face as you walked through the door. The staff were very pleasant and made you feel welcomed without over powering you. Gran Bahia Principe Resort Riviera Maya (Tulum, Mexico) ... have been to this resort .TWICE so I should be a sort of expert. I went once with my partner seven years ago (for a week) and once with my daughter a year ago (for a fortnight).
