Chaweng Regent Beach Resort Samui (Thailand)
by crazyhippy
This hotel would make an excellent choice for families or couples when visiting Koh Samui. This hotel offers great rates and is very good value for money.
The main difference between the room types differ in facilites (spa bath, balcony) and location. I found that even the run of house rooms were styled beautifully and had ... all the necessary mod-cons.
The property is set amongst lush tropical gardens (with a resident chicken!) and has a very popular resturant called the Red Snapper. You can dine on the beach during you evenings which makes or a perfect setting for a holiday.
This hotel is right in the heart of Chaweng, great spot to be able to go out shopping and experience the nightlife, but to be close enough to your hotel so you dont have to worry about taxis/tuk tuks.
There are two pools which I was very impressed with, the beach front setting makes for excellent views whilst you are relaxing! Read the complete review |

Novotel Century Harbourview Hotel Hong Kong (China)
by SomethingToBe
I stayed in the Novotel Century Harbourview in Hong Kong for 10 days with a group of friends. The location is on Hong Kong Island, but in the Western District. The attractions HK have to offer are mainly in the Central and Kowloon regions, so the location is fairly out of the way. However there are many bus route to the nearest ... underground rail station. If you are happy using public transport, the location shouldn't be an issue. The HK tube network is much nicer, simpler and cleaner than in the UK and if you uy an Octopus card it works similarly to our Oyster system, but is used more widely (ie in concenience stores). If you don't feel comfortable using public transport then taxi rides around could end up costing quite a lot, so it would probably be more beneficial to stay at a hotel in a more central location.
The hotel itself is basic, but very comfortable. We stayed in a twin room and the beds were nice, and the rooms had air conditioning and general facilities you would expect. The showers were power showers and were lovely after a day in the swealtering heat!!! There is a rooftop pool and a gym and also a couple of restaurants to a good standard.
This hotel is definitely best for those going to HK on a budget as the price is very good. However if you want the attractions on your doorstep, this is not the place for you. Although the neighbourhood is nice and the people generally friendly, you do stick out and most people around do not speak English. We were happy to roam around the area and explore, but if this is not for you, look at the hotels in Kowloon/Central! Read the complete review |

Cala Llonga Ibiza (Spain)
by milliemoo
Calla LLonga, Ibiza is one of the most beautiful locations for a holiday that I have ever visited. Its a lovely little resort with plenty of souvenir shops and little supermarkets, the resort is a definate favourite for families, the beautiful soft white sand is gently shelved into the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean sea. The ... resort itself is a lovely little cove and very safe. There are plenty of very cheap restaurants to tempt your palate on an evening, and also some exclusive pricy eateries too. A small fairground for children is also in operation during the high season. Hotels and self catering establishments are also in abundance. We stayed at the Hoteur Montemar Apartments, we found them to be clean and well maintained, the complex boasts a lovely heated swimming pool and a very good restaurant. Travel is very cheap in Ibiza and because its a relatively small island it enables you to take in as much of it or as little as you wish.
Santa Eulalia is a resort just down the coast from Calla Longa and is also very nice, its a little larger than calla llonga and is quite a busy place, timeshare reps are a major problem here and are very persistant so please be aware of this. A water taxi can be taken between resorts but is more expensive than a bus journey.
Ibiza is around 2- 3 hours flying time from the UK so is quite acceptable even with small children.
We have found the climate to be very comfortable, not too hot in September, but be aware we did suffer with a couple of days of sharp showers when we visited last September. (I was told that it was the first rain they had seen for literally months).. a highly recommended holiday destination! Read the complete review |
