Tanit Ibiza (Spain)
by bp-fan
THE AREA
The hotel Tanit is a lovely hotel situated in Cala Gracio which is just 15 mins walk from San Antonio's West End. I was very apprehensive about visiting ibiza as I imagined it to be tacky and touristy, but this was definately not the case, as the area around the tanit is beautiful and quiet, yet not too far from the club ... scene, which makes this hotel suitable for all ages. It is also just a mintues walk from the beach which is very convenient.
THE HOTEL
Aswell as being unsure about going to Ibiza, I was even more uncertain about staying in an all inclusive hotel, as I thought I would get bored of the same routine and the food. However, once again i was proved wrong! The hotel was very clean and although being a 3 star, is definately a 4 star standard, if not 5!
MEALS
The was a huge variety of food, with lots of meat, pasta, salads, soup etc... Although i tended to have a lot of meat, I think their seem to be quite a good range for vegetarians (although perhaps not vegans). Being all inclusive, it means breakfast, lunch and dinner are all included, aswell as snacks and drinks all day until midnight.
ROOMS
The rooms were very clean and fresh, and very tastefully decorated! The balconies with a sea or pool view also get a fantastic view of the gorgous sunsets.
ACTIVITIES AND ENTERTAINMENT
There are a wide range of activities on offer for both children ands adults, and i think there are kids clubs every day. Just some of the adults activites include archery, rifle shooting, water polo and water aerobics.
Every evening there is also some form of entertainment which are always a good laugh. These consist of either shows (incl. lion king and moulin rouge), comedy sketches, quizzes, karaoke and other games. They are all hosted by the brilliant entertainers who work throughout the day aswell running the games
STAFF
The staff are very friendly, especially the waitors who are always up for a little chat, and often come out in the evenings after work. The best of all though has to be the entertainers who work so hard all day and night, but always look like they're having fun! Although a lot of them are kids entertainers, all the adults love them too, especially in the evening entertainment, which is probably most enjoyed by the adults.
COMPLAINTS
The biggest issue is with the sunbeds. Being such a busy hotel it is very hard to get a sunbed, so the are people waiting from 6 in the morning to reserve a spot and wait for the beds to be unchained (which i think is at about 8 or 9). This means that if you're late getting up then there is very little chance of you getting sunbed. Another complaint is that recently a french company bought the hotel next door (or it could have been part of the tanit - im not too sure), so the those residents are allowed to use the Tanits facilities and dining room etc, but we are not allowed to use theirs, despite the fact that their pool is pretty much empty all day!
OTHER POINTS
The Tanit is in my opinion a fantasitc hotel, with a wonderful atmosphere, which just adds to the enjoyiment of the holiday. It is also very easy to make friends, both adults and children. Read the complete review |

Seaview Patong Hotel Phuket (Thailand)
by soundmaniac1981
I was lost for words when I visited this beautiful island last year. We stayed here 7 nights in total and absolutely loved it. The hotel is a bit out of the way from many of the other hotels but if your looking for the beach down the bottom of the hotel drive two swimming pools, a bar pool - not just bar side but actually in the pool. ... The pool is circular, bridged on both sides to access the centre lounging area, with sunbeds, parasols, tables and chairs. Air conditioned rooms, most rooms incoporate a view of the sea however some are a bit obscured however most of these rooms are ground floor and instead of a balcony steps straight into the pool. Most resturants and the village centre is within 5 mins walk there is a marvellous resturant south of the hotel - cant remeber its name but it sits outside above the road - at night eat by moonlight - so romantic. The staff at the hotel are excellent -first class - the first day we arrived we were greeted at the entrance, ushered to the lounge and give sweet exotic fruit cocktails. They also gave us cold (ice cold) face towels, a god send in the heat we experienced. Our bags were immediately sent to our room while we filled in the most basic forms, once finished we were shown our room. That day and every day after, neither me nor my partner touched a door outside of our room. Read the complete review |

Costabella Girona (Spain)
by acbrown
I stayed at Costabella last July with my fiancee, and I can fully recommend the hotel as good budget accommodation for a short break in this wonderful city of Girona
The staff at Costabella were really pleasant - most of them spoke English and were wonderfully tolerant of our halting attempts at Spanish! The rooms were ... thoroughly cleaned every day, and the linen changed every second day. The toilet/shower room was spotless. Breakfast consisted of the usual buffet and coffee, but it was fresh and tasty and set us up for the day. The only poor area was the bar - not that it mattered to us, but it might be of importance to others. To order drinks at night could be a long-winded experience as the bar was rarely staffed all the time. That said, the drinks were good and well-priced.
The pool was also of good quality, and again it was cleaned every day. The pool is well sited as a sun-trap and you can get a glorious tan from about ten in the morning to eight at night. Another significant advantage of Costabella is its proximity to the bus services into the city. The bus stop is less than 100 metres across the road and the services are cheap and frequent. Girona has a lot to offer the culture hounds of our world, plus some lovely cuisine in a range of great restuarants. You can also get a bus to the train station where you can get a bus or train to travel further afield (such as Barcelona, Lloret de Mar and L'Escala.)
Try Costabella - it's unlikely you'll be disappointed! Read the complete review |
