Wouldn't it be nice to own one of those picture-perfect holiday villas. You know the kind, marble floors, a cascading orange grove, swimming pool, fragrant Jasmine framing the door and windows, located in some strange and exotic land...? Well, you may be able to. . .for a week or two at least. With the holiday season about to enter overdrive, travel agents are full of holidaymakers thumbing through brochures, giddy anticipation warming their faces. You can almost hear the smiles as a reprieve from the 9 - 5 becomes more than a Monday morning wish. Just have to decide on which hotel and resort and they're off. But a little more investigation, ... Read the complete review

One of the great things about going away on holiday is the huge range of accomodation choices that you are faced with and the final choice you make can have a real impact upon the quality of your visit, I thought I would talk about some of the stranger or more memorable places that I have stayed rather than the more normal hotels, resorts or camp sites. The first place was while travelling around Australia we visited a mining town called Coober Peedy (might have spelt it wrong) which was fundamentally an underground town due to the severe heat and the accomodation I stayed in was basically underground, it was a fascinating place and such was the rationing of ... Balaia. A small village in The Algarve, just short walk down the road to Albufeira. If you want to stay in Balaia, stay at the self-catering Balaia village. You can own your own home (if you've got the money), or you can just go on a short break. My friends grandnmother owns a villa there so my friend and I and her parents took up the opportunity of going there in April.... We were situated close to one of the 5 pools at the resort (which were all freezing at the time) but luckily for us there was a heated pool at it's side. There was also a wide range of sunloungers for that broing bather (like me) although they were only needed on two days as the ... Read the complete review

You're going on holiday, you need cheap accomadtion, where's the best to look? The internet of course. Well, maybe! Of the three times I booked over the internet, only one of the choices has been what was expected (and typically that was the one I booked for someone else!!) Here are just a few of the tips I've picked up (the hard way) Once you've found the hotel/hostel/whatever you fancy, try looking on another the site to see what their description says, do photos, amenities match etc. That way you won't end up in a cupboard with no windows instead of the spacious room on the photo! When you've finally ... Read the complete review

Over the last few years our family and friends have had some fantastic holidays in various parts of the UK through a company called "COUNTRY HOLIDAYS". There is a very thick brochure containing all types of houses ( from traditional to old-fashioned ).All the properties have been handpicked to offer everyone an unbeatable combination of quality, value, and that indefinable something that makes it a wonderful holiday home. Within the brochure there are colour photos of each property. Also detailed are facilities within the home, such as No of bedrooms, heating and linen/towels (whether the last 2 are included or not), if animals can be accommodated. ... Read the complete review
