Advantages: Location, Staff, Villas and amount of pools

Disadvantages: Temperature in pool

Balaia. A small village in The Algarve, just short walk down the road to Albufeira. If you want to stay in Balaia, stay at the self-catering Balaia village. You can own your own home (if you've got the money), or you can just go on a short break.

My friends grandnmother owns a villa there so my friend and I and her parents took up the opportunity of going there in April.... We were situated close to one of the 5 pools at the resort (which were all freezing at the time) but luckily for us there was a heated pool at it's side. There was also a wide range of sunloungers for that broing bather (like me) although they were only needed on two days as the weather wasn't as we'd hoped!!!

The villa's themselves are bungalows, well furnished with bed's, kitchenettes, camp beds for extra guests, bathrooms equipped with showers and baths (which weren't of a high standard in cleanliness), and TV satellite which actually included English channels!!!!

The pools are big and clean and normally warm but on these ocassions if you stayed in for two long you'd turn into an ice block!!! The actual scenery in the village was beautiful... there were trees, flowers, bushes, everything... it just gave it that warm feeling. The car park is very small and situated near the tennis courts at the front of the resort. Unfortunately for us it wasd pooring down with thunder & lightining when we arrived so we got drenched because the villa was about a 2 minute walk from the car park!!

Despite the resort being self-catering there was a marquee bar & restaurant there, also there was a a-la-carte italian there which was near the car park.

Balaia Village is strongly recommended for weddings as there was one there on out last day and looked beautiful and really fun!!

It's located a 2 minute drive from the main resort of Albufeira, is a short walk from the local supermarket, where prices are really cheap!! There are a
few nice bars and restaurants and clubs in the local area, it's also a short walk from the beach.

The security there is very high as there are security cameras around the area and Balaia itself is a quiet resort with very friendly and helpful residents. The staff at the village are also very helpful and in the reception area there are many leaflets of local and far-out attractions and a wonderful model map of the village to help you find your way around!!

Overall Balaia Village is for families and honeymooners and the older people amongst us. I would recommend it to anyone as it is extremely friendly and in a great area just a 1 hour drive away from Faro Airport!

If you go Enjoy, if you don't YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR MISSING!!!!!!!!
