Advantages: Typically Greek, absolutely beautiful

Disadvantages: Stoney beach

I will try to be as honest as I can be with this review of the Adonis Hotel in Kalami, Corfu.

We travelled via First Choice, part of the Thomson travel agent group. The price was about £375 per person, for two adults in early May.

We flew in the early hours, arriving at Corfu mid-morning. The transfer from the airport to the hotel was around an hour and a half, and somewhat scarey - you have to presume that the local coach drivers know what they are doing, but the roads are very narrow and on cliff tops.. but as I say, the local drivers know what they are doing and got us to the hotel safe and sound.

The road is above the hotel, and as the coach pulled up the holiday rep was waiting for us, she was great, very friendly - she showed us to our room which was on the top floor of the hotel complex and her enthusiasm was amazing, she could not wait to open the patio curtains/doors and show us the view. It was stunning beyond belief - the most beautiful view of Kalami Bay and more... you could see across to Albania, and cruise ships sailing through the channel.

Our room was typically, in Greek style, basic, but clean and as good as you would expect. It was on the top floor, which was hard work, there was a lift but that only went half way from the ground to the top floor, but you got used to it. I would imagine that if you had mobility problems you should let the hotel know in advance as there are plenty of ground level rooms.

The hotel has 2 bars, one which is higher up and by a pool, just for day time -the view from there is stunning, you can order light bar snacks from there too. The main bar is by the main pool on the ground level and is very nice.. well stocked, I would assume that you could order any alcoholic drink you can think of, food can be ordered there too, bar snacks, breakfasts and main meals, all very very nice too.

The staff in the bar and the reception are all very, very helpful - nothing ever seems too much bother.

The supermarket on-site is well stocked with all the essentials you need and a daily delivery of lovely fresh breads and pastries too.

The beach is just a couple metres from the hotel and is clean but stoney, beach shoes are a must...

You can walk to the next town, which is also a small place, there is a regular bus service though, and that takes you directly into Corfu town, a very bustling busy town and a must to visit.

Corfu is a most beautiful island and one I shall most definitely go back to.

Summary: Beautiful hotel, off the beaten track, amazing
