KATHERINE: We were staying in Katherine overnight before our trip down the Katherine gorge and we did drive through Katherine on the way to our motel. Katherine is not a big town and there is not a lot there, a supermarket and a few shops etc. Apparently they have a lot of problems with alcoholism with the Aboriginal people hanging around inebriated which also results in fights. The Australian government and local communities are trying to clear up this problem by restricting the purchase of alcohol.
