Advantages: great fun for the kids, clean and tidy, excellent accomodation

Disadvantages: some may find it a bit pricey

If you're looking for a special treat for your children(birthday or whatever)or just fancy something special for you and your partner, then I strongly recommend a night at the Alton Towers Hotel.Although the cost of a nights stay appears to be a little pricey, at over £100, I feel it is well justified. The hotel is spotlessly clean throughout, and the staff, in their old-fashioned, porter and chambermaid outfits, seem determined to make your stay a pleasant one. They did make a slight error with our payment, but gave us 2 extra free tickets to the park as compensation- we were given 2 free tickets as part of the booking offer at the time. There were various themed rooms available,at various prices, such as the 'nemesis' and'chocolate' rooms to name but a few.We opted for the 'explorer' room, the cost for which was £109 for 2 adults and 2 children. The cost of these room depends on peak and off peak times. This included a continental breakfast which amazed us, so much choice. The children loved the fact that a huge teddy bear in pyjamas came into the breakfast restaurant and gave them a big hug. The room had en-suite bathroom and tea/coffee facilities, and there were hidden explorer packs for the kids to find via a set of clues. There was a tv in the room also, and for a small charge, the kids can play nintendo games. The hotel itself has a swimming pool which we did not use because we did not know about it. There is also a licenced bar, gift shop, games room, restaurant, and live entertainment. Entry to the hotel is from 3pm but you really need to be here as soon after that time as possible to enjoy all of the facilities. The room need to be vacated by 10am, an ideal time to go straight to the Alton Towers park. Residents to the park can access the park from 9.30 via the woodland walk. It is advisable to wear a good pair of shoes as this walk is rather long and sometimes wet. This avoids the queue for the monorail entrance. Having 1st thought th
at the price was a bit hefty, we cannot wait to go back again soon.

I stayed here on conference so didn't pay for it. What a hotel! These Captain Nemo lifts were something else. Mind you, Nemesis on a stomach-full of last nights beer is a real test...
