Advantages: Water Park in hotel, Caribbean atmosphere

Disadvantages: Cost

Visited Splash Landings hotel for an overnight stay last October. Arrived at lunchtime, checked in and then went straight to the Alton Towers theme park. The monorail is located at the hotel and we were in the park within minutes. Alternatively you can walk there on a designated woodland walk available to hotel guests only.

After an early dinner, went straight to the water park which was open until 10pm. The water park is wonderful with enough activities to entertain all ages. You could easily spend an entire day in there and adults and children alike will really enjoy it. There are little play pens that you can put infants in and a special area for very young children.

The hotel is connected to the Alton Towers hotel through a walkway and you can dine in either hotel. The food prices were as you'd expect for a captive market. I think we paid £14 for a curry and about £18 for a steak meal. Portion sizes were reasonable and there was a set 3 course dinner and separate meals for children available.

Breakfast was a set price and was eat all you could. You need to book your table in advance as the place gets booked quickly for the early settings.

The atmosphere in the hotel was very Caribbean and the bedrooms were decorated in the same theme. The room size was not particularly large. A double bed and bunk beds is the norm and we had just enough space to put a travel cot between the beds so it felt quite squashed.

You get certain benefits for the theme park from being a hotel guest as such as fast track access but note this access was only available on 4 set rides. You could also get into the park about half an hour earlier than non guests and most people chose to enter the park earlier by going on the woodland walk with the hotel staff. You meet in the foyer and it is a very easy stroll. We had a pram and is was easy enough to push through the woods.

The hotel is not a cheap place to stay but there
is often special offers available on midweek breaks available. If we go again, we'll stay for 2 nights as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

Welcome to dooyoo....hope you enjoy the site!

Some valuable advice from proxam there and I agree, your review could do with a smidge more detail. Nice first review though!

have often thought about staying at the hotel for a night, but then i check my bank balance and realise its not possible!!! like alton towers but find it a pretty costly way to queue for most of the day! :)
