Pretty Good Hotel Really (Ameritania)

After we had booked our trip to New York I thought I would just check out some reviews of what the hotel was like that we were going to be staying at - the Ameritania. I was horrified to see so many bad reviews especially as there was me, my husband and my 2 year old daughter going.

I rang the travel centre and asked for their honest opinion (fortunately it was done through Virgin so there were lots of people who had stayed there). They all said that the hotel wasn't anything flash but it was in a great location and clean. After hearing this I decided to stick with it and hope for the best.

Maybe I had psyched myself up for it being a complete rat-hole but I have to say I was really pleasantly surprised. The staff were really good especially with my daughter. The location was fantastic - when pushing a stroller around NYC you don't want to walking for miles on end. Because there were 3 of us we had 2 double beds so the room was more than large enough for us and most importantly it was really clean.

The only downside is that Time Square is really noisy 24/7 and the noise doesn't stop at the windows so if you're a light sleeper take some ear plugs!

Maybe we were lucky enough to get the only great room but I doubt it. I can't say what a standard room is like but would recommend paying to get upgraded to larger room if you can afford it.

All in all if I was going back to NYC I would stay there again.
