Staying in a Houseboat in Amsterdan is a great alternative for a normal hotel or apartments in the city of Amsterdam. I understand some of the negative reviews and of course we cannot blame those people if they will give a negative comments specially if they didn't get a nice service that they need.... but of course you have to listen as well with the explanation of the hotel owner. Next time you travel you have to search for direct Amsterdam Houseboat Botel website or simply go to GOOGLE and search for the term AMSTERDAM HOUSEBOAT. Good luck. PhilDutch Houseboat ... Well, having just read the only other (very well written) review about this floating hotel, I have to give the "other side of the coin" version. We spent a few days here in 2001 then eight days a couple of years ago. ~~~~ We booked the Botel on-line because we’d used it before and had liked it. It was very easy to book. I just searched using Copernic, which brought up the Botel site and I E-mailed them with our requirements. They replied within 24 hours to say our requested dates were free. It wasn't to be. I booked using a website which is a third party to literally hundreds of hotels in and around Amsterdam about a month before my intended stay. They take bookings then pass the bookings they've taken onto the hotels so that they are aware who is turning up on what days. I recieved a confirmation email straight after I made the booking, qouting a booking reference number which I printed off. I then received another email about a ... Read the complete review

I have stayed at the botel with my husband. We found the opposite to you, the staff were very friendly, the rooms are cabins (exactly what you would expect to find on a boat) and ours was clean and lovely and warm. We had a lovely river view. The breakfast, wasn't great, it was perfectly edible tho, it was your usual hotel continental stuff and an attempt at bacon, underdone as usual, however, the dinining room was pleasant with nice views. The bar area has a pool table, internet and flat screen TV and the staff in the bar were ... Read the complete review
