Disadvantages: rude!

I went to Amsterdam with my mother when I was about fourteen. One afternoon we decided to get a taxi out to the Amstel Hotel for a drink and a snack. Although my mother was dressed fairly smartly, I was wearing jeans and trainers and as soon as we stepped in the door from the wind and the rain, the man from behind the consierge desk ran over to us and rudely told me that I wcould not come in because I was not dressed appropriately.
The rest of Amsterdam is so friendly and inviting, but this little incident really spoiled my trip, it was so unnecessary, and was not dealt with in the sort of way that a five star hotel should deal with these sort of problems.

Summary:
