The Amstel Hotel has a beautiful location on a quiet stretch of the Amstel River. Historically this is the hotel used by most royalty, visiting heads of state and celebrities. The hotel was totally renovated some ten years ago and boasts up-to-date facilities in all rooms. A very grand lounge area and top restaurant set the tone for one of Holland's most famous hotels. Staff, however, can be quite mind-blowingly arrogant and unhelpful. Be very careful making external telephone calls from your room as the hotel surcharge will often go a long way towards paying for the upkeep of the hotel. ... Read the complete review
