Advantages: Friendliest place on earth

Disadvantages: none

My recent trip to Thailand was a disorganised affair being on a standby ticket pre-booking a hotel was not an option.

On arrival at Phuket airport very tired after a journey of nearly 18hrs I visited the accomadation bureux requesting the cheapest hotel that had a room. They suggested & booked the Phairin Hill Hotel at Patong Beach for 1 night.

On arrival at the hotel we were warmly welcomed with a cool drink & iced towels & shown to our room. The room was large with the front wall given over to a huge patio window leading on to a balcony. The en-suite had a shower, no bath; a bath is available in the superior rooms. The bed was huge; I estimate it to have been at least 7' wide. We settled down for a good nights sleep & the prospect of looking for another hotel when our brains worked again.

Our breakfast, which was included in the room price, was superb, about 10 different choices were offered & every day we were asked if we wanted more. The staff were most concerned as to our welfare after our arrival (we must have not made much sense through sheer tiredness the previous evening).

We decided not to look for another hotel that day, in the meantime the staff did everything possible to make our stay the best it could be. As you will note we did not move hotel in the end being more than impressed with what we already had.

The hotel is located away from the town, this was a blessing though, no noisy bars or traffic nearby, a free shuttle is offered & although it has a timetable running every 1.5 hrs we were transported to the beach at anytime we requested a lift. A full excursion list is available & the staff very knowledgeable about what is worth seeing & what is not.

On three occasions we asked for a tuk-tuk to travel some distance this was arranged at a cost of £10 for a whole day with the driver takeing us anywhere we wanted on the island & waiting while we visited many sights & shops & represented excellent
value & conveinience.

The pool is exceptional with a central fountain in the shape of three dragons, which support a bridge above making it a pretty sight. The restraunt is on an open terrace with ceiling fans adding to the breeze making it a cool place to be in the midday sun. The menu is extensive but we did not try it!

What sets this hotel apart is the staff; I have never felt so pampered & special anywhere else I have ever stayed.

We paid £20 a night for a double room with an extra bed this price included breakfast, a standard double room would have cost £18 per night. Every room is air-conditioned & has a TV & phone. There is a sauna on site. The hotel is only 18 months old & is very well furnished I would give it 4 stars for facilities offered & 5 stars for its staff.

The sheets & towels were changed every day & beach towels provided as well! The feeling of crisp white cotton sheets every night is sheer bliss.

I am sorry if you feel I am raving but this hotel deserves it, I have never stayed anywhere as friendly as this, they will certainly get repeat custom from Moi.

When we requested a taxi to the airport we were provided with a airconditioned mini-bus at no charge, a final gesture of excellent customer service!

If you ever intend visiting this part of Thailand you will find no better hotel at any price!

Sounds like a lovely hotel but it really isn't that bad staying in town you know.
