Advantages: Clean, spacious, good food, lovely architecture

Disadvantages: ...................being stared at (to be expected but annoying)

The Argana Hotel, Agadir, Morocco is a 4* hotel that offers bed and breakfast or half board to guests. There are 234 rooms and the hotel is very grand. The hotel is 300 metres away, not too far. There are shops on the same road and the centre is not far away, where there are more shops, restaurants and the market.

The rooms are quite spacious, I went away with a friend and we had large single beds each. The room was clean and towels were available, as was the usual there was shampoo, conditioner, soap, shower cap. The room had a desk with a television with Satellite, two chairs, and as we were on the ground floor we had a patio and double doors.

The main restaurant is the Arganier, and it is located next to the pool and the ground level. It has an international menu and themed menus every evening. This is also where breakfast is served (not that I'm one to get up for breakfast on holiday), I think I made it once. It was nice, buffet with tea, coffee, juices etc.

The snack bar the piscine is where I tended to eat, it's the pool bar and serves food also, by the time I was up I would get a sandwich or something from the snack bar, it was good, a pool bar menu, with sandwiches, burgers, chips. All were very nice and there was quite a variety with local dishes on there too, I stuck to what I knew.

There is 24 hour room service and a tea room too.

There is a nightclub in the hotel, it's nice because it could sound like your worst nightmare but the entrance to the nightclub is actually outside the front of the hotel on the road so there is no real noise able to go in to the hotel. Our room was the side of the nightclub and we never had any trouble sleeping. In fact, you wouldn't even know the nightclub was there unless you ventured out of the hotel.

The hotel offers extra facilities like table tennis, golf, and a sauna, dry cleaning and internet. These all cost extra.

Overall I liked Agadir as a beach holiday, I will probably not go back, but then I never tend to go back to where I have already been. My main recommendation would be that Agadir has tourists and although the locals like a good old stare at the women wearing short skirts (remember it is a Muslim country) it is not as intense as other Muslim or less developed holiday destinations. I'd say it's an introduction to the less developed world but without being pushed too in your face.

The hotel itself was top quality and I would definitely recommend it.

Summary: Great hotel, in good holiday location, great introduction to less developed tourist destinations

Apart from Israel, this place called Morocco has always fascinated me. Even though it is a Muslim country, I suspect that they are slightly more tollerable towards the Jews than just about any other Muslim country, and for this alone Morocco gets my vote. I really enjoyed your review. Keep it up! Mayan820.
