Advantages: Great hotel, great staff and great location.

Disadvantages: None

This is a good hotel, its location in Budapest is ideal for exploring the city. The rooms are a good size and have lots of tourist information available in them. Many have good views of the local impressive architecture and big opening windows. In terms of the quality of the room and bedding I would give this hotel 9/10. In addition to this , the hotel staff are friendly and willing to help at every opportunity. The hotel overall is an impressive structure, the insides are lined with marble and it oozes ewalth. The dining hall is very impressive and the complimentary breakfast is great, better than I have had anywhere else in Eastern Europe.

Budapest is a fantastic city, I have travelled around lots of Esatern Europe and Budapest in terms of the sights and impressive architecture is by far the best place to go. It is quite cheap as well which is always a bonus. The location of Budapest in Esatern Europe makes it suprisingly easy and cheap to jump on the train and visit other cities in other countries such as Vienna that is about a three hour train journey. The sights along the way are an adventure in themself. The great raileay systems accross Eastern Europe means that when visiting any major city it is simple to hop on the train and get somewhere else.

A lovely place to visit is Ljubljana the capital of Slovenia. If visiting here you Must stay in the Domina Grand Media- officially the best hotel I have ever stayed - better than the Grosvenor Hotel in London, but it is dirt cheap to stay and they make you feel like a king - th staf are the nicest in the world and they have a great free wellness suite which is stunning. The have massive flat screen TV's that have speakers in the bathrooms, all in all the place is great. In addition if visiting Ljubljana you must visit and hire a boat to go on lake Bled, probably one of the most beautiful picturesque lakes in the world with the backdrop of the snow capped mountains.

Summary: Fantastic

The hotels are not related - it's just a common name in Europe - for hotels, theatres, cinemas, etc. a bit like being called "The Grand" or the "Palace"

Sorry for low rating but the subject should be the Astoria in Budapest and so there is no need to discuss Ljubljana or the sights of Budapest.

I am sure if you concentrated on just reviewing this hotel you would write a great review. Fiona

I am not sure to be honest it is the only Astoria I have stayed at in Esatern Europe. It really was a nice hotel and I would definately recommend staying there, but Budapest is such a lovely place that to be honest where you stay it doesn't matter too much. The only bad thing I found about Budapest was that there didn't seem to be a lot of night life?
