Advantages: Cheap, well located, friendly staff, delivers on all fronts

Disadvantages: Even being close(ish) to a road isnt really a huge disadvantage

Whilst I was travelling around Australia a friend and I decided to go to Bali for three weeks as it was quite close. We didnt really know what to expect or really what we were looking for so just booked up with a hotel that seemed quite reasonable, this lead us to the Bakung Sari Hotel in Kuta.

We booked up for a week to see what it was like with the possibility of moving to another area, which we ended up doing, but not because the hotel was of a low standard, it was purely to see more of the island.

The Bakung Sari hotel is located just off a busy street in Kuta, with shops very close at either the front or rear entrance. Although it is located quite close to a busy road, the actual accomadation is set back quite a way that you dont hear any of the road noise, and laying around by the pool is very tranquil. About a 10 minute walk away is Kuta beach which is absolutly stunning, and a lot of the clubs which Kuta is renowned for, so the area can get a bit busy at night.

The hotel itself is a three star hotel and is absolutly stunning(then again I had been sharing dorms with about 10 other lads so anything would have been an improvement!) Upon arrival the staff were very welcoming and friendly, and to our surprise, spoke very good English which made the check in process a lot easier. We had our bags carried to our rooms and gave a tip to the two men. We had a look around at the facilities and the pool was absolutly gorgeous, as seen in the picture, and there was a bar and restuarant located very close to the pool which made lazing around and drinking very easy to do.

We had a twin share room which had plenty of space for two big lads, there was also a very big shower room, a TV, a fridge and a balcony which overlooked what you can see in the picture. The room was cleaned daily with new sheets and towels being provided as part of the service. We were also given a breakfast every morning whch was included in the price which was very substantial and catered for many cuisines. Despite the lack of English being spoken by the waiters, they tried to talk to us as best as they could and this felt nicer than being ignored.

There were lots of activities to do that they would organise for you if you wanted to and were always helpful when asking for information or directions to get to places.

This cost us an unbelievable £5 each per night, including the breakfast which we just couldnt believe. After staying at other hotels by just turning up we managed to stay at slightly lesser quality ones for £2 per night, and looking at the website if you book this one up before arrival you are payng around £15 per person per night. This still is very good value for money but if you dont mind just turning up and seeing how things go then you would be able to get this and any other hotel here a lot cheaper.

Overall this hotel was by far the best place that I have stayed in so far during my life and couldnt reccommend it more in terms of quality and value for money. I think you would be happy to pay more than the £15 pppn here, so any cheaper is a bargain. It is located well and has very frinedly and efficient staff who are always willing to help.

Summary: A fantastic hotel for such little money, would definatly recommend staying here
