Advantages: Clean, spacious rooms, good pools, beside beach
Disadvantages: Expensive food
Another great hotel - the picture does actually look like the room that we stayed in.
Balinese people are extremely friendly and the welcome we received was probably the nicest I have ever had. Staff greeted us at the splendid reception area - which is in the style of a Balinese hut, which is huge - with necklaces made out of local flowers and gave us a welcoem cool fruit cocktail drink.
After checking in, the porter lugged our suitcases onto his shoulders and brought us to our room. The room was spacious and cool (good in the heat) with a large king sized bed and ensuite bathroom. Literally five minutes later another employee knocked on the door and asked if he could prepare the bathroom! He went in and filled the bath and put a load of flower petals in the bath. it was a very nice touch!
The hotel has two excellent pools, one that has the bar in the middle of the pool so you can swim up and order your drinks. The other incorporates ancient Balinese stone carvings. There are also hot and cold dip pools beside this second pool.
The food here was good, although it was quite expensive. We found this out when we ventured out of the hotel to a local restaurant where the food was as good, but maybe cost a quarter the price.
The hotel complex is very impressive, it looks very traditional with large dining rooms looking very similar to the reception area.
Breakfast was included in our stay (around £150 for the room per night) and it was very good. There was a large buffett selection - freshly cooked pancakes, freshly cooked eggs, bacon, sausages, as well as cereal, pastries, croissants, toast and rice! Filled you up for the day.
Sanur is not the liveliest of places, but it was perfect for a romantic getaway. If you want something livelier, go to Kuta.
Another good point to the hotel is that it leads directly out to a private beach that was looked after by staff of the hotel. It was very clean and there were plenty of sun loungers, both at the beach and at the pool.
There was entertainment every night, which included a performance of the famous Kecak dance as well as live music.
A very good hotel, I would definitely recommend.
Summary: Fantastic
