Myself and my husband visited New York on 20th May 2005, having won a competition on our local evening news. The trip included seats on the inaugural flight from Bristol to Newark airport in New Jersey and accommodation in the Barclay Intercontinental hotel. Having travelled for a whole day, we were both exhausted and just wanted to lie down in our room. We arrived at the hotel at 4.30ish on the Friday afternoon, with luggage in tow and the letter of reservation in my hand.
