Fabulous! The Bellagio is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in and we've stayed in a few! Absolute luxury, very classy, the reception alone will take your breathe away, their bill for fresh flowers must be massive.
We checked in (after 5 days at the MGM Grand which was nice but not in the same League as The Bellagio) feeling like the poor relations visiting from out of town! We'd heard that if you passed a $20 note to the receptionist they would upgrade your room, doubt if it made any difference at all but we did get a lovely room overlooking the fountains which again were fabulous, there's a channel on the TV that plays the music that corresponds to the fountains movements, sitting looking out of your window with a glass of champagne watching the fountains dance to "Viva Las Vegas!" is something else.
The pool area was beautiful, immaculate, lovely comfy sunbeds, quiet, classy and breathtakingly beautiful.
If you smoke, you can smoke in the casino which is great because it's a long walk to the front door, beautiful casino with plentiful free drinks (don't forget to tip the waitress a dollar) The other person to tip a dollar is the bell boy at the taxi rank in front of the hotel-this is a sight to see as they expertly put guests in taxis at a rate of knots, palming a dollar from each, according to one of the casino staff they can easily make £2,500 to £ 3000 dollars per week!!
Vegas itself is wonderful, we picked the hotel mainly because we thought it was in a central position and really that didn't matter, we thought we would be walking along the strip from hotel to hotel, you could but it would take you probably 15 minutes to get from reception in one hotel to reception in the one next door. Don't waste a minute of your time in Vegas--get a taxi!
Oh, and if you can afford to, pay a bit extra to stay at the Bellagio!
