When Mr M said he was taking me off to Paris, he also suggested we use DooYoo to narrow down the choice of hotels.
After reading the other review on the Best Western Jardin de Cluny Hotel, our minds were made up. We'd found our hotel.

Arriving on the Eurostar into Gard du Nord, we joined the queue for the taxis, and were promptly deposited at our hotel around ten minutes after climbing aboard (oh and about 13euro)

After checking in (and a mix up over who's name it was booked in) the receptionist changed our room. We were supposed to be in 107 on the first floor, but she annonced that 507 on the fifth would suit us better.

Yes we took the lift.

The room wasn't as large as I was expecting, I have to say. It did have plenty of wardrobe space, a good sized bathroom (bigger than mine at home!) a mini-bar, a TV, and about a foot n half either side of the bed.

But then, you only use the hotel room to change and sleep. Right?

The bathroom was spacious and clean. And everything worked. The hot water was hot, the cold water was cold. The toilet had a double flush choice, so water saving. The shower worked, had good pressure and was easy to use. It even had a choice of points to hang the head from! Genius!

Back downstairs, if you head down the stairs across from the reception desk, there's a hidden gem. Although they call it a bar, and you can get a drink, it's more a relaxing area with a minibar! But it's gorgeous. All dark and opulent, with a gloss ceiling to make it appear larger I guess. It's down here that you can use the computer to surf, for a small fee. However, if you have your wiifii laptop with you, you can connect anywhere.

Through a door, off this area, and down a few more stairs is the breakfast room. For 14euro each, you can enjoy a continental breakfast buffet. We didn't take this up, so I can't comment on the food or the room, tho the pictures of the room make it look beautiful.

The staff are all friendly and bi-lingual if nor multi. They seemed to remember who was English and who wasn't, switching very easily between their native tongue and ours.

But the area is the highlight of this hotel. Just two minutes walking takes you to the Notre Dame Cathedral, the souvenir shops around it, and the multitudes of bistros, cafes and restaurants.

If you want a hotel that's near to everything you want, but not so close that you'll hear everything; if you want a hotel thats staffed by friendly, knowledgable staff then this is it. Search no more.

Summary: I would happily stay again, and again, and again

Most hotel rooms in Paris are quite small.
