... really cannot believe the negative reviews about the Atlantis!did you people actually stay here?ok i joke but seriously what more can anyone possibly want from a hotel!My husband and I spent two weeks here and had an incredible time, and believe me im a difficult one to please! Southern Palms Beach Club & Resort Hotel (Barbados) ... stayed in the Southern Palms Hotel at the beginning of June 2009 for our honeymoon. It was our first time in Barbados and we found it to be a really friendly place to visit. The Southern Palms is located on the south-west coast of the island in an area known as St Lawrence Gap - or The Gap for short. The Gap is supposedly the liveliest resort on the island, but is was very quiet when we went. The hotel is pretty much in the middle of The Gap, around 5 minutes walk away from the main restaurants, although there are a couple of nice places just across the road - St Lawrence Steak House being a particular favourite during our stay there. Best Western Castaway Resort & Suites (Freeport, Grand Bahamas) ... back down to reasonable. Cue lots of hopping back and forth into and out of the spray while waiting, Goldilocks style, for it to be just right. The rooms themselves are of a good size, and come with two double or one king sized bed. Added features beyond what you might expect were a coffee maker (not always coming as standard in US / Caribbean hotels) and a radio alarm clock. There was also ample closet and drawer space, 2 telephones (one bedside, one on the desk across the room) and a single comfy chair. The furnishings all had a local look to them - lots of woven wicker and pale coloured wood - but seemed to be of the highest quality. The carpets were equally funky ... Bougainvillea Beach Resort (Barbados) ... Resort Barbados We visited this resort as part of a wedding party - two close friends of ours, a south African and a Kiwi decided to get married here having visited there on a previous romantic break. So I guess that we knew we were in for a bit of a treat as it must have been good for them to go back! We arrived stupidly late at night due to a Virgin flight being 12 hours late. 30 of us pitching up at 1.30 AM was not what the night porter wanted. This was probably the only negative experience that I had at this resort. The night porter really couldn t cope and it took 2 hours to check us all in to our rooms.
