... travelled to St. Lucia at Easter this year. As a family with two children aged 11 and 14 at the time we needed to find a hotel that would cater for everyones needs. Hotels in Puerto Plata in general ... 2008 I flew out with thomas cook airlines to Breezes Hotel, Puerto Plata in Dominican Republic. Me, my boyfriend and his Mum and Sister went all inclusive at the hotel. When we arrived we were happy to see that the hotel looked a lot nicer on first appearance than the ones we past on our way. The grand entrance was lovely and so was the hotel reception. The rooms seemed satisfactory but nothing exceptionally nice. On our first day of arrival we went down to explore the area in which we were going to be staying for two weeks and were happy with what we see. Sandals Antigua ... stayed at the Antigua Sandals resort in the Summer of 2008. It was beautiful. Although it is not set on the nicest beach on the island (I think the hotel one the most perfect beach you will ever see is called the Jolly hotel or something, but it is certainly not as nice as the Sandals one), Sandals private beach features pure white sands and a lovely stretch of green blue water which is actually warm. The Barefoot Restaurant (so called because it is located on the beach, in the sand) is the nicest of them all, and is the perfect setting for any meal of the day. Sunset Jamaica Grande Resort & Spa (Ochos Rios, Jamaica) ... us and they did provide bottles of wine for the table rather than us ordering by glass. I think overall the restaurants are of a much better standard than the rooms are and this is one of the reasons the hotel can call itself a 4 star over 3 even though the rooms are pretty basic. Along with the ones I have mentioned there is also a Caribbean/American themed restaurant, a cafe serving snacks and drinks and a coffee station where guests can help themselves to hot drinks when the main restaurant is closed in between meals.
