Advantages: location
Disadvantages: The location no where near makes up for all the bad things in this hotel
I hope this reveiw stops at least one person suffering at the hands on this Clarion hotel in dublin like I did.
I booked this hotel for myself and my partner for a weekend break to celebrate his birthday.
Having a young son, we were looking forward to a nice relaxing break, did we get one, no way! Firstly I made the hotel aware 2 weeks in advance it was a birthday celebration and asked them to put champange and chocolates in the room. The man said to me that the hotel would provide an upgraded room, wine and a fruit basket free of charge as it was a celebration.
I thought, ' how lovely!' no, it wasn't, we were upgraded to a room that if that was a deluxe suite I wouldnt have liked t see the rest, and no wine or fruit basket! I was very angry as I had been willing to pay for what I requested!
This was my second dissapointment after booking in at a very unfriendly reception desk, I was told I had not paid, although I had given my bank details when booking. That was obviously my mistake for not checking had the payment came out. However, the hotel put a hold of over twice the amount of our room for the weekend for 'insurance'!
I had brought a card that I only had a couple of hundred pounds on as I did not want to overspend or lose any cards or money while away.
This freeze on my acount meant I could not acess any money for meals or anything. Although I asked could I pay in full for our stay after explaining my problem, I had my account frozen until the evening before we left.
Luckily we have family in dublin we were able to go to for somehing to eat otherwise we were left to starve!
The staff were unfriendly and the corridors were smelly with dirty room service plates outside many doors.
On the saturday night we were compinsated after hand core complaining with a complimentry meal from room service, we got steak that would have cost 18 euro, that was sooo chewy I couldnt evn be bothered to eat it, it was such hard work!
All in all a nitemare weekend at the hands of the Clarion..................
I feel no need to give anymore details about the place as you should really not consider giving this horrible place your hard earned cash!
Although if still not convinced, its a 3* hotel in central dublin, looks nice on the outside, but dont let it fool you.
Summary: Take my advice, save your money and stay in a hostel probably would be more enjoyable
