“ North Male Atoll / Maldives „
I visited Club Faru in November 2008. This was my first time in the Maldives. Who I booked with........ I booked with First Choice over the internet - doing this online knocks down the price by several hundred pounds compared with booking in a travel agent. The overall price all inclusive for Club Faru, including flights was approximately £1700. This was a really good deal for a week all inclusive in the Maldives. Overall - I would recommend that you go with First Choice to this hotel. The flight was comfortable and the price was a great deal. Price and value.............. As discussed above the cost came to around £1700 all inclusive for a week. I have yet to find such a good deal since! I booked fairly late, about a month before leaving - and I went out of season in Nov. This is part of the rainy season - so beware. However, I only had one day of rain. I suspect that the holiday would not be as much fun if it were to rain all week though, so take this into account when booking dates. Overall I thought this price was excellent value for such a high standard of hotel in the Maldives. Club Faru still remains one of the most competitive hotels in the Maldives in terms of price. Location............ Club Faru is on a small island which is a 10 min boat ride away from the mainland where the airport is based. This may put some people off because you can see the mainland in the distance. Occassionally you may see planes taking off. This did not bother me but I can see how some people would not see this as an excluded Maldives island. Accomodation.......... We had booked a standard room. The room was basic, but large and clean - with everything needed including air conditioning. There was no TV but then who in their right mind goes to the Maldives to watch TV? Room service was very good and the room was cleaned up to twice daily. The only issue was the smelly toilet - apparently the toilet is smelly in every room due to sulphur used by the egg plantation. All you can do is shut the door after use to stop it coming into the room. Food........... This resort is famous for it's food. Such variety and such good quality of a range off food. All I did was eat, sunbathe, snorkel, drink and sleep!! Activities........... The usual to be expected in the Maldives - there is a dive centre available on the island. I spent my days canooing, snorkling, diving and going on boat trips. There is not much else to do because this is aimed to be a relaxing holiday. You can also have a free trip to the mainland. There are also 2 fab bars on the island - there is entertainment in one on the night times. Note......... I hear this hotel will be closing over the next few years so if I was you I would get booking!! Overall: An amazing destination, and a brilliant hotel.
