My boyfriend and I spent 2 weeks in the Riu Mambo hotel in October this year and we absolutely loved it! It was the first time we'd stayed in a Riu hotel but certainly not the last. The great thing about this hotel is that it is on a big Riu complex consisting of 3 hotels: The Riu Mambo, The Riu Merengue and the Riu Bachata. All 3 hotels were available to all of the guests, the only restriction being that you had to have your evening meal in your own hotel. All other meals and drinks could be enjoyed in any of the bars and restaurants. There were 5/6 pools (it is advertised as 6 in the whole resort but we could only find 5! This was the first time I had stayed in a Riu hotel and the first time I had visited Dom. Rep. and I was very pleased with our stay. We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks, with my boyfriend and his family, which includes 2 10 year old children. The bedrooms were very well sized and included a fridge which was filled with water free of charge. The bathroom was also a good size and very clean. The maids visited everyday and did a very good job. Unfortunately we were on the ground floor so we didnt have any spectacular views.
