We had really looked forward to spending our twelfth wedding anniversary at the Conrad for some time and we were certainly in no way disappointed. It being our wedding anniversary, and being a Hilton Hhonors Gold VIP member, we were given a free upgrade to an absolutely superb duplex suite at an astonishingly good rate, although it is clear that any room at this hotel would be delightful; it's known for its very spacious, well-furnished rooms. Basic rooms are 42 square metres - yet our suite boasted 120 square metres. We paid 190 Euros per night. The rack rate was 1150 Euros. The Euro is very much on a par with the US Dollar. This is reputedly one of the best, if not the finest, hotels in Brussels. We checked it out on a Sunday night in May at a “special” weekend rate of around £115 per night for a large, de luxe double room, booked via Internet. Still expensive for a weekend night in Brussels, so we were expecting something special. The hotel is in the Avenue Louise, a few minutes walk from the Louize metro, which in turn is a couple of stops from the Eurostar terminal at the Gare du Midi. Approaching the hotel, it is obviously a classy establishment, with doormen in red livery. Up the steps into a large lobby area, extending to a luxurious lounge. The reception was ...
